Why do Catholics insist on calling Mary "The Mother of God"?

God is not a Created thing. On the Contrary, He alone Created all things outside Himself.

If Catholics actually read the Bible, Mary, the mother of Jesus, gets rebuked by Jesus every time she speaks to him in the Bible.

She is called "Blessed" in the NT, pronounced "Blest". That's a different word than "Bless-ed". Only GOD HIMSELF can be "Bless-ed".

"God is not a man... neither the Son of Man..." (Numbers 23:19)

Therefore Mary cannot be the "Mother of God". If God is not mankind nor the son of mankind, then He is also not the Son of a Woman either.

God is The Creator and The First Cause of all of Reality. Nothing any man or woman or other Created thing does can add or take away from God's own Existence, Power, or Authority. So no, Jesus dying on a cross does not and cannot in any way "increase God's ability to forgive sins."

I once saw a Christian debater claim when speaking to Richard Dawkins. Dawkins asked, "Why doesn't God just forgive the sins?"

The Christian debater, allegedly a "Pastor", incorrectly responded that "God could not forgive sins, without Jesus' death and resurrection, because God was too righteous to forgive sins."

That is so wrong and ridiculous. Isaiah chapter 1 says God does not want a sacrifice to forgive sins. In fact, He said God HATES sacrifices. God wants Obedience and a broken heart. God does not forgive sins "in spite of" His own Righteousness; He forgives sins BECAUSE of His own Righteousness and Love. Forgiveness is inherently an attribute of Goodness. So the whole notion that God somehow needed to become a man or else produce a half-god offspring and then "Sacrifice Himself" on a cross to forgive sin is blasphemy. The Jews tried to stone Jesus one time for saying, "In the beginning I AM," which was a claim to being "I AM THAT I AM". So they tried to stone him because he was a flesh and blood MAN claiming to be "God in the Flesh". Then they ultimately had him crucified for the crime of blasphemy.

According to the first chapter of Saint John's Gospel, which is preached at the the conclusion of (almost) every Catholic traditional Latin Mass, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... and the Word became flesh...". The "Word" here refers to Jesus Christ.

The Liturgy of the Hours, which is a series of prayers and meditations on the Psalms, states in the January 1st antiphon that "[H]e remains what He was and becomes what He was not." In other words, when the Word, Christ, became flesh, He maintained His Divine nature and substance, but assumed human nature as well. The best analogy that I can think of is that a citizen enlists in the army and becomes a soldier, but still remains also a citizen.

The Church also affirms in the Nicene Creed that Christ is "God from God, light from light, true God from true God, consubstantial with the Father" (the Nicene Creed resulted from the Council of Nicea in order to rebuke the Arian heresy and establish the Divinity of Jesus).

All this being established, it is perfectly fitting and right to refer to and address Mary is Mother of God.

Jesus himself denied being perfect in one of the Gospels. He said, "Why do you call me Good? There is none Good, but the Father."

If Jesus denied being perfect, then he could not be "God in the Flesh".

Got me!! How can she be the mother of god when she wasn't even born until a few billion years AFTER this, supposed, GOD thingie created the universe? On top of that, they keep referring to Jesus as god!! Which is he, god, or the son of god? That's partly why their brains are so scrambled up that they can't possibly give a good answer to questions they're asked about god.

Probably because the Roman Catholic Church is the oldest strand of Christianity in existence, predating modern Bible compilations, and the lesson of the Holy trinity where Jesus is the son.

I'm pretty sure Gnosticism and Coptic Christians predate the Catholic Church by at least several decades, maybe even a century or more. It happens to be the case that some of the earliest christian churches were built in the same manner as the Sun Cult's Sun temples, which shows the ties between Christianity and two of the idolatrous Cults Ezekiel rebuked in his old testament book: The Sun Cult and the Tamuz Cult.

Gnosticism maybe, but the most significant Christian groupings within the Roman Empire were brought together to debate to find common agreements on beliefs and practices of the various Christian factions in existence at that time, which merged into what is now known as the Roman Catholic Church, which claims lineage to Apostle Peter.

A much later schism seen the Orthodox breakaway, and it was from this Easter Orthodox Church that middle Eastern and North African Coptic Christians are believed to stem from.

Then a later schism seen the Protestant split from the Catholic church, which collectively spawned much of Christianity in known around the world today.

So the earliest remnant of Christianity that is still in existence today is the Roman Catholic Church.
