Christians, Which sin would you wish was not a sin so you could commit it without God sending you to hell?

I did mention CHRISTIANS on purpose.
That means I want ONLY CHRISTIANS' answers.
I think for many Christians it is abortion, premarital sex (fornication), sex between unmarried people (adultery) and homosexuality.
But can you change God's morals and rules?

I Believe Christians who don't want to think something they love is a sin have already successfully convinced themselves that it is not a sin.
Did Jesus say that he forgives your sins if you justify it or if you repent and turn away from it?

You misunderstand the entire point because you are trying to analyze this from a secular viewpoint. That’s okay though but I recommend you look deeper into this.

Christianity is not setup like a common law penal and merit system. Good deeds vs. sin are not “weighted” for how God views the destination of my soul.

All people fall short of the glory of God but Jesus was sacrificed as penance for the sins of the world. I wouldn’t say there is any specific “sin” that makes a person irredeemable. It’s more about having a relationship with Jesus and when you are truly walking with him you avoid sin like vomit. So many Christians (including myself) do stumble and walk astray but repent and come back. We don’t seek Christianity because we are perfect. No far from it. We seek Christianity because are very flawed and we feel convicted about it and want to repent.

For someone who doesn’t understand this concept we often look like hypocrites be are continually seeking to change.

It’s ironic I sometimes encounter non-believers who are more straight-laced than myself leaving me feel like a hypocrite. But that’s one of many reason I return to Jesus. To show me the path of righteousness.

Also when it comes to issues of eternal judgment I try to refrain from taking God’s place. It’s up to God what happens not any one else. Some people who liberally say “your going to hell, he is going to hell, she is going to hell, so forth” are they themselves committing a grave sin of arrogance and condescension. Especially if they say it with hostility. You need to preach the truth in love but that’s different than preaching condemnation.

Yes God will judge but that doesn't mean he will justify your sins as you want him to. It means he decides that you should go to hell or heaven based on if you repented or not.

Funny you mention abortion. A couple came and testified at my church about 2 months. The wife talked about how she got pregnant and wasn’t ready for it given multiple reasons (mostly finances). She made a decision she later deeply regretted and terminated the pregnancy. She later had two kids with her husband but she talked about how she sometimes gets the sick feeling that there should be a 3rd among them.

No one condemned her at our church nor should they. She like many have made bad decisions. But she wants to come closure to Jesus along with her family.

Again when it comes to judgement day I don’t make decisions for God nor do I condemn people. It’s hard to do. Could an actual pedo be forgiven? That’s a question I wish someone would ask. Can an abortive mother be forgiven? Same thing.

But the word “repent” is a actually military verbiage. It means doing an about face (180 turn) from your sinful behavior. It’s also asking for forgiveness from a convicted heart. Someone who is convicted doesn’t try to justify or make excuses for what they done.

Then that’s something they will have to answer to God for. I don’t know their situation. I don’t know their reasoning. I don’t know their state of mind. I don’t know what it is like to be a woman, become pregnant and then decide to abort the baby.

However I do know this. I have personally made many sinful decisions in my life. At the time I might of done it out ignorance, anger, fear or seated conscious. But I never truly forget what I did and if left unresolved it can and will haunt me time to time.

But I will say this. Unless a woman is a true sociopath (or even a psychopath) then something is haunting her upstairs about that decision. She might go in the opposite direction and become an avid pro choice activist. But the ugly truth is I think those women are looking for social support to placate a guilty conscious. That might work for a time being. But I doubt it will not work forever because socially constructed concepts are built by humans who are flawed and usually selfish.

Anyway if you made a past decision to do something like this I don’t hate you. I don’t think you are a murderer. I hate the sin but not the sinner. There is a difference.

I used to believe homosexuality was a choice until a few years ago. I do believe people have impulses that make them behave that way. In a way I feel sorry for them because it’s something they are going to struggle with for most of their lives.

I actually have no qualm about civil unions between gay people (paper equivalent to marriage) because in a free society people should be able to do what they want (sinful or not). God doesn’t “send” anyone to hell. People choose hell by denying/rejecting/refusing God and His free gifts of grace and forgiveness. God will not force anyone to choose Him. Those who reject him have chosen hell (eternity apart from God). Most people consider themselves to be “good people,” and like they don’t deserve hell. The Bible says otherwise. This might sound nonsensical and that’s okay. by the way I won’t respond to hostile responses or to anyone who tries to debate or argue theology. If you think this is incorrect, pick up a Bible and read through it - if you have the courage. This is an interesting question. We are prone to sin because of our imperfection, and because the devil tries very hard to make what is wrong seem right. I can not think of a single person who was punished by God for having a wrong desire or thought. Only when we act on those wrong things does it become necessary for repentance.

Through life I have noticed my own desires towards different things have varied. God invites those who think they know better to prove it to him. What we always find is that the temporary pleasure of sin fades very quickly and reality of truth sets in hard.

I would suggest you look in to the subject of hell to find out that it is not a place of torment. A God of love does not desire any to even die, let alone in torture the. For all eternity.

No. Unrepentant willful sin would result in the removal of that individual from the congregation. This protects those who may commit sins yet do repent and keeps the congregation clean. It is not a free for all. It may take someone a long time to repent, but God is merciful and ready to forgive. It is said in the scriptures that he puts our sins as far as the east is from the west in the case of those who repent.
He will not forget the love we show for his name, but for Unrepentant sinners he will not withhold punishment.

@honestguyopen I would like to believe hell isn’t a place of eternal torment. Really I do. Even the likes of Adolf Hitler would probably pay back the agony he caused after a millenia or two down there.

But unfortunately the Bible says differently. Jesus talks about “the outer limits of weeping and the gnashing of teeth”. There is also the parable of Lazarus and the rich king who did nothing for him. The dead explicitly says he is in agony and only wanted a dip of water on his tongue.

This is very scary. If I was in control I would probably do things differently. But again the “my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways” when it comes to God’s decisions. Hopefully I find out (under good circumstances) why this is come judgment day.

Botton line is we can’t ignore the existence of hell because the Bible explicitly says it’s reality.

@globetrotter22 I can understand your confusion on this. It has been a teaching from as far back as constantine. I would like to point out a few verses to clear this up. First in the mosaic law, the nation of Israel was commanded not to serve other gods or sacrifice their children to false gods by making them pass through the fire or literally burning them alive. God said that such a thing was detestable to him a d never came up in his mind or his heart. He is a God with 4 main attributes.
Love which governs all the others
Justice
Wisdom
And finally power.
In line with this Ecclesiastices ch 9 mentions that the dead are not aware of anything. Jesus further clarified this when he resurrected the young girl and told the onlookers that she was only sleeping. So death is a sleep like state where the deceased is devoid of life, like a candle without a flame.
Another point mentioned in the scriptures is that the wages of sin is death. So when we die we have paid for our sins. It would not only be unloving but it would be unreasonable to believe based on these other points that a God of love would be a hypocrite and torture a dead human for eternity after stating the very idea was detestable to him, and after having it written in the Bible that we pay for our sins at death then turn around and keep us roasting alive. He will definitely punish the unrepentant wrongdoer. But if the individual does repent before the battle of Armageddon and it is in his heart to serve God loyally then God will be able to judge that. He is a God of justice and love. If a basis for mercy exists he will choose it. Also remember that the 10 commandments were part of the mosaic law, which was done away with when Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins and established forgiveness based not on animal sacrifice but on the value of his shed blood.
It should be noted that although the mosaic law is not what we live by, the things in it like the 10 commands still reflect the feelings of our heavenly father. He even taught the nation how to quarantine!
