@slatyb Three things: 1. Those aren't Christian actions.
2. Not immolation. That was the 17th Century. Not beheading because that is not practiced here... Unless your are a Muslim in Lackawanna NY performing an honor killing of your wife.
3. This isn't about Christianity or any other religion. This is about Islam as practiced today Do you think you magically changed my mind? "Oh Christians did all that nasty shit too, so it's ok if Muslims do it too.". Honey, that is both ridiculous and doesn't carry weight logically or in a court of law.
Upstate Man Charged With Beheading His Estranged Wife
By Liz Robbins Feb. 17, 2009 A man who founded a Muslim American television station to help fight Muslim stereotypes is to appear on Wednesday in a suburban Buffalo court on charges that he decapitated his wife last week.
The man, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, went to a police station in Orchard Park, N. Y., on Thursday to report that his wife, Aasiya Zubair Hassan, was dead, Chief Andrew Benz said on Tuesday. Mr. Hassan told the police that her body could be found in the nearby office of the television station, Bridges TV. The police later arrested him on charges of second-degree murder, Chief Benz said. ...
I've considered converting to Islam years ago when I was dating a muslim man. Nowadays I wouldn't do it I've realized I'm too devoted to what I believe in.
Islam is too extreme and fanatical. It’s either islam or death. Punishments and shariah law is their fun. They have the most extremists out of any religion in the world.

No. I doubt that gods exist and I don't care for religion. I have no problem with people who do believe in that stuff, it's just not for me. I have my own, personal spiritual beliefs.
I'm non-religious, so not planning on following any faith. However I do believe that what you believe is up to you, as long as you don't try to force it on other people.
No, because I’m not religious and probably never would be. I don’t believe in a God, so if I was ever religious I would probably become Buddhist. Interesting to learn about though

No, because it would involve me lying about believing in something I don't. It was bad enough doing so for my daughter who wanted to be baptised and confirmed, but at least that was for her benefit.
Religion has been one of the worst perpetrators of violence in the world. Why follow an organisation that can't accept free thinking. Oh, and that isn't aimed specifically at Islam, but rather ALL religions.
@BillyBalls They might have good education now, but the Catholic church has been responsible for millions of deaths due to heresy, Spanish inquisition etc... not very Holy in my book
Well, lets start with the Inquisitions. They started in the year 1100. These were expressly set up by the Papacy to find heretics. To start there was no killing, but as the centuries went on the punishments and torture towards any ho dared to not be Catholic got worse and worse. The most notorious period of cause is the Spanish Inquisition which has been documented by numerous people. Pope John Paul actuall apologized for abuses during the Inquisition. Rough estimates are 32000.
Now that doesn't seem too bad right? 32000 people just living their lives and then in the name of God, you could be tortured and killed and all land owned confiscated if you did not convert. Well how about the crusades? Religious war to try to reclaim the holy land. Er since when was Catholicism, which was started in Rome ever the owners of the Holy Land? Never. They were Italians. The first recorded details of Jerusalem put the city under the rule of Egypt. Over a few hundreds of years it changed hands and eventually became a Jewish city. Judasim. Not catholic.
And yet the crusades killed around 1.5 million people to reclaim the Holy Land for the Papacy.
Please remenpmber that the Catholic church is a European branch of christianity, it is not the original christian religion.
@BillyBalls Judaism is one of the older versions, although perhaps not the original. There has been evidence discovered that Judaism wasn't actually a One God religion, but rather like the rest of the early religions was a polytheistic religion with many gods for the different aspects of life. At some point the god Yawe moved to the front and eventually became the one God, Christianity evolved from Judaism and so did Islam. They all claim to have the One true God and yet they all follow the same deity but in different ways. If God really exists, then surely individual faith is far more important than following the teachings of people who set the ground rules. Besides, out of the 45000 different christian faiths, which one should a believer follow?
@BillyBalls Then you should go to google and type in "When did Christianity begin" and you'll find pages including from wikipedia that states Christianity started around the first century A. D. and was created by a small group of Jews in Judea and then it started spreading across the Roman Empire. You think Christianity just began from nothing and then suddenly existed? Why do you think Judaism, Christianity and Islam all have the same prophets? However in Islam, Jesus was not the last Prophet but rather Mohammed in the 6th Century. And thus Islam goes in a different direction.
Unfortunately most religious leaders would have you believe they have the most original and authentic religion. Wrong!
I considered it for a while, but I was too stupid to ask if she'd consider becoming atheist instead. One of my biggest regrets. (She ended up marrying a Pole, who was probably Catholic.)
@BillyBalls Are you sure about that? The number of Agnostic+Atheist tripled between 1990 and 2008 in the US. They're currently at 11% of the population, another 11% or so are "nothing in particular".

"Religion of peace", my ass!
You do realize that all those things were practiced by American Christians into the 20th century?
@slatyb

They aren't Islamic actions either.
I'm Muslim I hope my husband to be Muslim inshallah
I've considered converting to Islam years ago when I was dating a muslim man. Nowadays I wouldn't do it I've realized I'm too devoted to what I believe in.
Islam is too extreme and fanatical. It’s either islam or death. Punishments and shariah law is their fun. They have the most extremists out of any religion in the world.
No, because I don't want to waste my time praying five times a day when that time could be spent on more productive things, like being on GAG :)
No. I’m happy with my current religion plus most versions of Islam are very patriarchal.
No, because I’m not religious and probably never would be. I don’t believe in a God, so if I was ever religious I would probably become Buddhist. Interesting to learn about though
Bhudhism is actually really tough to practise although it's the peaceful religion there is !!
@Aakash_Hangargi it seems like it! I probably never would be religious at all but that’s the one I share the most values with
Nah I'm good. I prefer to not be beaten to death or honor killed because my husband is insecure.
I don’t believe in my own religion let alone someone else’s. But that doesn’t mean I don’t respect a person’s beliefs
I were raised Muslim and don't believe in it, so no.
Not all Muslims have exactly the same beliefs or are radical.
OMG. Of course not. Religions are lies. And Islam is about as bad as it gets.
nope
https://www.youtube.com/embed/EmBYV4kxS4wGOD Christ is above the dome
spirit of the anti christ
want nothing to do with it
GLORY TO THE KING CHRIST ABOVE THE DOME
because quran said it is from jibril. also content obviously not from the merciful god described.

Catholic education is the best in the world.
I could list a lengthy list of Catholic universities that have produced great thinkers such as Notre Dame and Georgetown.
@BillyBalls They might have good education now, but the Catholic church has been responsible for millions of deaths due to heresy, Spanish inquisition etc... not very Holy in my book
Millions of deaths? Prove it!!!
Well, lets start with the Inquisitions. They started in the year 1100. These were expressly set up by the Papacy to find heretics. What branch is the original Christian religion?
@BillyBalls Judaism is one of the older versions, although perhaps not the original. I don't know why I would do that. I assume to make some girl happy? I still would not do it. It would be hypocritical.
I considered it for a while, but I was too stupid to ask if she'd consider becoming atheist instead. One of my biggest regrets. (She ended up marrying a Pole, who was probably Catholic.)
@goaded Changing religions is one thing. It implies your understanding of God has changed.
However, giving up religion to become a true atheist. is a complete reversal. It happens but not as often as changing religions.
@BillyBalls Are you sure about that? The number of Agnostic+Atheist tripled between 1990 and 2008 in the US. They're currently at 11% of the population, another 11% or so are "nothing in particular".
@goaded Or you can be like me. I was born and raised Catholic.
I do not consider myself Catholic or a member of any religion.
That does not mean I don't believe in some type of "Cosmic Hand Of The Universe".
As an atheist i see no value in joining any kind of religion.
