This is the most important question you would ask yourself if your interested in understanding Islam and being confused about it because of the lies shared in media and because of how many Muslims behave far from Islamic teachings.
And for any Muslim too they need to ask this question and try to find it’s meaning to better follow Islam, especially that currently most Muslims are living away from Islamic teachings while they don’t care to understand Quran and hadeeth and they just seek knowledge from mr. Google for couple of seconds or they watch whatever pops up to them in videos, and the problem that they believe in anything without carefully try to find the truth about it, similar to how non Muslims do (of course with exception).
And to answer this question, you need to seek knowledge appropriately from the source:
1- Quran and books of it’s explanation.
2- asking and listening to scholars lecture especially about explaining hadeeth.
It’s true that number 2 should be hadeeth, but it’s hard for a non knowledgeable person in understanding if the hadeeth is true or not, that’s why there are scholars who dedicated their life to deeply search in each hadeeth and people who narrated it if they are known as honest and if they met each other, so they need to check on the time and place of each one of the narrators and how were they behaving. So, it’s a long process that needs read dedication.
