Do you believe a person has the ability to change you for the better or that’s all on yourself?

It's on yourself. People can be brilliantly helpful and almost knock you over with their generosity but, ultimately, if you don't take responsibility for yourself seriously, you will run out of luck, sooner or later.
I'm currently sadly observing a very good friend get lost in the idea that the person they're with is saving them and showing them the truth, etc., when all that person is doing is trying to take advantage by separating my friend from everyone they know, including family. It's a very difficult situation that involves an inheritance and property division, which is the motivation for the other person trying to poison all of the prior relationships in my friend's life. I can't see it ending well, and it's happening because my friend, probably just out of emotional weariness, can't shake themselves out of that dream they want to believe is true.
There are occasional glimpses of the way they really are that, sadly, get immediately repressed as soon as this other person shows up, which is like all the time, and then the light goes off and the smile becomes less spontaneous. It's a topic among those of us who are being slowly but surely dismissed.

a person can definitely affect me and help me improve myself big it’s ultimately in my own hands… cause they can nag me and tell me about those things all day long, but it’s useless if I’m not listening or wanting to do anything

the main force is (should be) within you and then, having genuine support around you can make it all easier

these things are never easy, they're complex as well as complicated so I really think that it has to be both and then some more... lol

No one can change you. Only you can do that. But absolutely someone can have a positive ( or negative) influence on you that can be a catalyst for change.

I believe if we have a certain way that is not too good, people have ways to change us providing that person is a good person

A person can help guide someone to be better and motivate them to, but in the end if the person is not willing to change, they won't.

I believe they can help coach you up and make a difference but you have to basically listen to that person and do it
