It seems to be more specific parts of the US, ages etc.

The biggest religion over there is politics though.

It is still a big thing for some people here, but this depends on age, location, and other things. I'm pretty sure that religion is become less popular recently with the younger population or population with cities.

But I don't think it governs most people's lives like people may think.

Depends on where you live in America but when living there I definitely noticed that the ‘bible belt’ (states across the US where church attendance was higher) was a real thing.

Nope. Most Americans don't know jack shit about religion other than what few symbols and phrases they are brainwashed with.

Most think Jesus was a White American, and supported their way of life.
