Of course there are immature minds who believe this.

Then there are those who see that the bible is symbolic and none of it is as the churches interpret.

There is a lot of occultism in the bible. But one example to answer your jesus part...

The word sin is derived from "missing the target".

The target is your god given desires in this world.

If you die in sins means you will never achieve your goals.

Remember that god is within you...

Your beliefs and feelings, the subconscious programs create your external reality, just like in a lucid dream.

So people who are stuck in materialistic beliefs will keep trying to find a linear logical solutions to everything, and if they feel the lack of something they're pursuing, their belief and feeling will shape the circumstances that they'll end up in lack, just as they believed.

If you believe in christ, you die to your old self, get rid of the limiting beliefs... you will achieve things without trying. That's a gift you can only claim by believing and never earn through hard work.

Again, prayer has nothing to do with saying any words. The words may assist you in changing your internal state, which is all that matters. Feel the success of something before it happened physically.

Pretty much the whole believer thing is about your limiting beliefs and being saved means reaching your goal.

All the same shit you now learn from psychology, self hypnosis, quantum physics, that's a big part of what jesus represents in the bible.

Of course there is astrotheology in the bible, and of course there is a very small amount of secular history.

It depends on what sect you ask- and for the older ones, when. Many of them now claim that if you accept God after you die, you can still get into Heaven; they've finally cottoned to the fact that religion provides benefits to you *before* you die.

And the Calvinists, to their credit, say it doesn't matter; if you're predestined, you're in, if not, you're out; your actions are immaterial. I have NEVER understood how that udea caught on; I see no appeal for anyone who's not a bastard.

The Mormons have multiple tiers of Heaven: one for Mormons, one for other Christians, and one fer everybody else, so at least you're okay with them.

The Zarathustrans have you cross a bridge across a chas. (like in The Last Crusade, but with a different god), whose thickness and width is determined by your virtuousness; I don't think specific faith matters too much there (but just in case, if you find yourself at the entrance to the Persian afterlife, don't praise Toyota until you're safely inside). Oxviously they're not Christian, but it brings up an important point:

The purpose of Hell, in Christianity, isn't eternal punishment; that would be pointless. It's more like what the idea of purgatory came from (Swedenborg didn't actually cdange that; he just popularized the idea): a place of refinement; of removing the damages and impurities of sin until you're fit for Heaven, which for some won't be until the end of the world. Presumably, most wouldn't take anywhere near so long.

If you're REALLY worried, then when you find yoursulf standing in judgement before Saint Peter, just say "I was killed by a mob of enraged Unitarians", and they'll HAVE to let you in, if only to hear the story.

Thought God was all forgiving anyway? Just say sorry and all will be fine. If not. Maybe a person is snuffed on the spot. Which could have it’s own benefit. Avoiding another lifetime in hell.

Well I have never read the Bible so what I'm about to say is just something that I believe in I believe that when we are born we are all given a gift and that gift is choice we get to choose who you want to be by the things we say and do I personally and a sinner because I choose to work to explore and experience things just so I understand them just about everything on this planet we too is a sin there's no way that I want to be perfect I helped tons and tons of people but that doesn't make up for me being a sitter I shouldn't because it's my choice experience something to understand something no I would like to think that God will accept this but he's the one that gave us a choice to have faith and whatever that faith is will be our fate I think if you can except that you are a sinner an honest about it at least you're being honest about it I look at it like this I do believe in when we die our energy lives on and we go on to another dimension another world they say you can't take it with you but I believe knowledge everything that you have said and done in this world does go with you so it is what it is for me I would like to hope that I do get to move on can I guess if I don't I don't I'm not going to worry about it right now but I will also make sure that my sins I have a reason for and they're not to hurt anybody or to take from anybody or be greedy it's basically because I want to understand something so I have to experience it

Let's unpack it a bit - how many good deeds do you need to do to earn heaven? What if you're one or two short? Still cruel?

The whole point is that you need to do nothing. God isn't waiting for you to become a better person or tick some boxes. God is ready to accept you as you are, right now. Because he wants to empower you to be a far better person than you can imagine and live life to the fullest.

If we look at what Jesus taught, he said he came to save the unrighteous, not the righteous. The healthy don't need a physician, the sick do. His point was that the many of the religious leaders and government authorities thought that their outward show and pomp where they boasted how well they could follow God was deeply misguided and harmful. They beat others down spiritually, emotionally, even physically, and told them they weren't good enough and never could be good enough. Jesus said that they were wrong, and in the end the outcasts and sinners - the poor, the adulterers, the thieves, the little children, would be the one's to be welcomed into heaven. The rich, the powerful, the religious leaders, would be left outside unless they trusted that all of those things they had and did were worthless in the end.

This is one of the subjects that separated the Protestants from the Catholics. The Catholic thinking is that if you work hard, sacrifice a lot, suffer a lot of penance, and give a lot of money to the Catholic Church, that helps you get into Heaven.

The Protestant thinking is that all human beings are flawed and enslaved by sin, and the only way to get into Heaven is to ask God, as Heaven is only a gift from God. You can't 'earn' your way into Heaven. Of course, if you are truly close to God, his spirit radiates out of you, and you just do good things anyway.

As for Jesus, he said in the Bible, "I am the Alpha, and the Omega. No one can come to God the Father except through me." I take that mean, you have to accept Jesus to reach God, except maybe Jews, since they have a long relationship with God and are the Chosen People. Maybe they don't need Jesus, I don't know, but anyone else will be cast into Hell.

Good deeds by us can't pay for any sin, so yes, they end up in Hell. If a billionaire gave every dollar he or she had to charities, it wouldn't pay for the sin of stealing one stick of gum. It's because we are all sinners. It's like trying to wash a car with a muddy rag and no water. It just smears the mud around. Jesus never sinned. He had no sin nature, so when He gave his life for mankind on the cross, it paid for all of our sins. We have to trust in him and not our own good works to receive this pardon. That's where Roman Catholicism and other false religions get it wrong by saying you have to do good works along with believing in Jesus.

Yes because according to the Bible God is the definition of what is good. Like if you´re not interested in god or not believing him that way you can´t be good.
An important part of Christianity is that you can´t be good enough to go to heaven, you rather have to acknowledge that there is no one that is rightenous before God only by his/her works.

You and I and everyone else have sinned already and have fallen short of the glory of God.

You must be born again of a new spirit to inherit the kingdom of God and the only way to inherit eternal life and kingdom of God is by the blood of Jesus Christ and having faith in the Son of God, Jesus who justifies the sinner by having faith in Him alone.

yup that's a logical dilemma for faith. cause if you believe that god is so conceited, that he'll throw perfectly good people into hell just cause they didn't actively worship and praise him, then that would likely be an asshole god you don't want to believe in. but on the opposite end, if god would not throw good people into hell, then why believe? why worhsip? why go through the hassle, if you can just focus on being a good person from the get go?
