Who is your personal hero?

By personal hero, I mean someone you know personally that is a hero to you. They inspire you to be a better person, they are your motivation when you feel bad.

My personal hero is a 41 year old girl I met in 2018. She appears completely normal. At 18 she was in a terrible car accident. In the hospital she was told that while she can still think creatively, she will never move or talk again. She decided that the doctors were wrong and taught herself to walk and move again. While her long term memory is almost nonexistent, she doesn't have any other problems. Like most people she has reminders to remember to do things.

She inspires me, because regardless of the hardships I experience, I have never had to teach myself to walk and talk again. If she could do that, I can surmount any difficulties I encounter.

That's crazy man, you and I are in the same boat. My girlfriend was hit by a car when she was 8 and had to do the same thing. She definitely inspires me to be a better person, when you see someone who's been through all that and still has a positive outlook on life.
Something about having a disability brings out the best in people. You'd think it would be the opposite

Only thing I know she has an issue with is transferring short term memory into long term memory. Rote jobs are difficult for her (jobs where you do the same things over and over again).

Oh that makes sense. But if she's walking and talking normally and all her limbs are functioning 100% , that's pretty amazing

My mom probably, but its close with my dad. They are both the adults I never will be, and I mean that as a massive compliment to their fortitude, dedication and hard work, coming from nothing.

I think in life, we meet many people who have qualities that we want to emulate. They improve us, just by being around.

Used to be my mom up until age 15. Now im my own hero and I look back at my past experiences and find ways to improve myself
