Last month I turned 25; another empty year without him. A stupid drunk driver took him away in 2019. He would've been 36 by now.
He was more than just a sibling; like a mentor, father figure and my personal self-defense teacher (he was black belt). Without him, well things fell apart. I had lost confidence, lost my strength, lost motivation to continue with my goals.
Then a couple days ago was the very first time I dreamt of him. Unlike other dream, this one seem intense and vivid. In the dream, he was alive again and kept saying not to let go no matter how hopeless it seems, no matter what, don't let go. I kept telling him that we're different, that I'm not confident nor a fighter like him. He got disappointed and explained how that's not the sister he knew, that one that wouldn't take no for an answer, the tough tomboy that even beat him a few times during sparring, the one that takes no BS, etc. We had a long conversation and he ended up saying something like ''Go back out there and show me the tough girl again, the real you''.
