For me I believe when we are born we are destined to be somebody as you grow up your parents and still their beliefs in you until you're 18 when you get out on your own you see where your parents made a mistake or where you can't justify the way they believe for your own beliefs when we were born we were all given a gift that gift is choice we get to choose who we want to be in life by the things that we say and do we have a heart a mind of Our Own depending on who you are or who you have become is where you will go it's your choice

Now everything I have said above is the way that I see it it doesn't mean that I'm right or I'm wrong and what I mean by all that is no matter what religion you are in or that you are for me the most important religion is becoming one with this universe with everybody in this universe with everything in this universe because we are one this planet is pure energy we are made of energy when you can become one with it and with everything else in it it doesn't matter what religion you're in because you are one with the universe and everything is right my religion is to give to help to teach everyone to love to become one do not ever pick sides to accept who everyone is or walk away from them ignorance holds our world back holds every person in this world back from becoming who they should become picking a religion a team a gang of people who all think in one way is not for me not unless you are one with the universe because that's pure love to me that's my choice and only my choice until I find something different that's the way I will live but I keep going forward wanting to know all the answers wanting to become the best I can become and sharing that just because I see things this way right now doesn't mean that I will see them this way tomorrow not unless I find something better and I don't think I'm going to but I will keep an open mind so this is my choice I'm not saying I'm right I'm not saying I'm wrong for me today this is my choice and the way that I find the best way to live and the best person to be

Well the notion that the Earth and universe was created in 7 days and human beings, specifically Adam and Eve came into existence when it was created is far from the truth. There is scientific evidence that we are closely related to chimpanzees in terms of genes and mammals weren't even around when the Earth was created as Earth was a gigantic molten fiery planet at first that could not have any life form living on it at first. The big bang theory also states that it took a super long time for the universe to be created and everything in it, definitely not 7 days.

Although there is evidence of an "Eve" which is called mitochondrial Eve in which we inherit our mitochondria from through the maternal line in our families, but this individual was not around before dinosaurs came into existence. there's valid scientific proof for many things, you can't really prove it from a religious perspective. Although I do believe that there had to be some being that caused the big bang theory and that would probably be God as there's no other way for everything in existence to come other than from God itself.

Yes. Religions can only exist if people believe in them, hence there are many religions that no longer exist or are rarely followed which seem strange given that if a religious being were so powerful, surely they'd ensure that they wouldn't simply be forgotten with the changing of time and people.

Religion is a lot like the concept of the movie, "The Village." The founders created a story and a legend bigger than any laws or rules they could institute to make the people afraid to leave the world they'd created, and to be good or else bad things would happen to them. Religion does that---gives people something to fear if they step out of line and it's something they can neither hear or see in tangible form so religion can be everywhere as a silent controller of their actions. It can also conveniently explain literally everything so people don't fear the unknown or things like death if there is an explanation that can be given.

Every society has had non believers, often killed, jailed, thrown out for not believing but there has been no evidence, that non believers have a better or worse life than those who are pious in all that they do.

Absolutely. The history of our species there have been hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of gods & theology.
Religion was meant to help explain why the world worked the way it did & many gods symbolized natural occurances or human knowledge, such as rain or medicine.
Slaves were a major part of religion as well, because man needs someone beneath him to feel powerful, but doesn't want to feel responsible for their own actions & blame how the gods made life work.
No one has the right to say one religion is better than another. Some people need religion, just as kids need Santa Claus or the Boogie Man to be good. Other people just know that you attractore flies with honey than with vinegar & that no god can dictate, if they even care to begin with, how we live & act.

We started off as nomadic people... going to where the food and conditions were better. Eventually, we came across a lush beautiful area, filled with food, and chose to settle down. That choice led us to be at the whim of nature, raising fears. Here we were at the base of a volcano, fearful the occasional rumblings would lead to an eruption. Along came a guy who claimed to be the high priest of the volcano god. He claimed all we need to do is a particular ritual, and the volcano god would be appeased and wouldn't erupt. This allowed us to feel in control of our life and destiny. We did the ritual and all was fine and stress-free.

One day, the volcano started rumbling again, so we all ran to the high priest. He said not everyone was properly doing the ritual, so the volcano god was upset. Now, the volcano god required more... including our best crops and our virgin daughters.

People will do anything to feel in control of their lives. The self-help book "The Secret" grossed over $300 million, claiming all you have to do is wish for something to happen, and it will happen. People are very gullible and are willing to believe and do most anything to believe they can gain control over their lives.

Beliefs derive from many sources, though most are invalid. Trace the cord back to the wall. But here's what you should really pay attention to:

Does the local faith work? Does it keep the state in line, and accountable, or has the local belief system been totally hijacked and weaponized by the state?

Is someone who isn't harming anyone, but believes differently about how to govern certain areas of their own lives within reason able to do so in peace, or hold accountable a state that disrespects that difference, or does the state pervert the local faith's teachings to burn that man's house down?

If a woman believes clubbing is evil somehow, but she isn't doing needless harm to anyone who goes clubbing, is she free to speak out why she believes clubbing is bad, and otherwise live her quiet life, or does the local region's equivalent of the FBI kick her door in and throw her in prison for her beliefs, after raping her and killing her pets in front of her? Do they use the local popular religion's glorification of nightclubs as a sacrament as some excuse for abusing her and disregarding her rights?

That's what you need to pay attention to.

I think they are intuitive to a degree.

On a farm as a boy, spring was magic. I would plant seeds and every day after school check. It was a buzz when they sprouted and the first tendrils broke the earth. Then as they grew I would wait for them to flower. Every day checking and nurturing them. Then they flowered and that was a joy. And you would wait for the fruit to form. Everyday checking and nurturing. After the fruit formed you would wait for the fruit to ripen. The first blush of red on a tomato. The first tassel to form on sweetcorn.

I'm assuming you are a city girl. I think that any city person won't understand the rhyme or rhythm and indeed wonder of nature. Especially now. There are tomatoes and new potatoes 365 now. But even city people were more attuned to natures cycles a couple of decades ago because new potatoes came in new potato season. There are no seasons any more in the super market.
It was wondrous to me as a boy and even now on my city apartment balcony.

It would be easy to worship nature oh 10,000 years ago. Every year at our church, we had a harvest festival to celebrate the fruits of the land. Essentially it was celebrating the Creation. I think that is a very natural thing to invent and worship gods of. eg the Tomato God.

About 2000 years ago we decided to create and worship the Creator rather than the Creation. All the mono theistic religions came into being about the same time period.

Incidentally I get off my ass and have a harvest festival, in the park, about every 5 years on average. At times it is good to worship the creation.

As opposed to being handed down by God? Of course they are man-made. Why would God give separate instructions to different people? The day I learned that there are multiple religions in the world, and the followers of each are sure they are right and everyone else is wrong was the day I realized that none of them were true.

Of course it is. Actually in ancient times people were afraid about the natural disasters as they didn't had any scientific or logical answer for it. They believed an evil source performed this or something powerful did this when he was dissatisfied by people. Hence people started praying other power. This power was then called God and religions were made based upon what different people believe God and his story is like. Religions are man made but the true power isn't of course, religions are just different routes to same destination you can say.

Yes, no religion was created by a god or deity, it's all on humanity. I have my religion, but I don't try nor need to force my view of the world to anyone. I believe religion serves to make someone be better and feel better, each person should be free to choose the religion that works for them or not having religion if it suits better. That said, it would be naive to not recognize that religion have been used for centuries to control people, keep the power status of rulers intact and to ensure people, specially the poor and uneducated, behave adequately. But I think humanity would be in a worse place now if it wasn't for religion, the fear of consequences is what keeps a lot of people in line

So, average Joe Blow gets a diagnosis of a life time. Something that will fuck him up, or even kill him. You need a Government that tells you everything. You are in a Government line. They partly are. For thousands of years humans have sensed that there's 'something' else out there, in a dimension we don't understand. God is there, along with the Angels, but so is satan and the demons. Some humans have a stronger sense of this than others, and they hypothesize that they're connecting with God, and set parameters for a religion. Of course, they might be connecting with a demon, who will then help this person create a deceptive or evil religion.

sure, and it's just a coincidence that people across the globe came up with similar "stories" to tell their children about past world events and people, and totallllly coincidental that we're living in a time right now where we can literally see things predicted in the Bible taking place right in front of our eyes even though there will always be people who deny that truth.

I keep hearing people say this, and I'm starting to agree with it more and more-- that "Satan's" biggest achievement is convincing people that he doesn't exist.

I am not denying events, I'm denying the causes. A citizen of bygone civilisations would no doubt put aircraft and spacemen into the hands of their Gods. Various celestial events were put down to God. Suicide is a religious sin so how can the Holy trinity be explained where God kills his son who is also himself?
Many natural phenomena could have caused plague famine and flood much as present day.
God is a convenient peg and crutch.

Odd that the top/all religions did not describe dinosaurs but hey - they aren't discovered back then..

Odd that religions only happened in a specific place instead of, you know, the world. Maybe there are no people on the other side of the world back then.

As in "man made?" Some are, some aren't. I admit my bias when I say that Islam, LDS and Jehovah Witnesses are contrived imitations of Judaism and Christianity. I think Judaism and Christianity are more organic in some manner as is Buddhism. Others like Shinto, Tao/Confucianism, Zoroastrianism began as social philosophies that evolved into religions. These are purely my opinions and I am not in a debating mood.

No, I am sorry, but religions are spirit-made. The spirits try to express themselves and want to get into relationships to humans. Unfortunately religions are woven into our culture, and sometimes or most of the times they die then: fe Christianity, after becoming a common accepted religion in the Roman empire, it almost died, and since then many churches are spirtually dead. I hope that helps you...

Of course they are. Yet they are derived from ancient Extra Terrestrials who put on airs with their superior technology and demanded obedience. But if you look at them with a clear mind and rational thought the illogical nature of the garbage propagated in religions should tell you enough.

Yes. My humble opinion is that man came up with the idea of religion to explain things that at the time were unexplainable. Now we have science. We can see different galaxies light years away. We are a crumb in the universe.

100% with no shadow of a doubt. Religion was invented so humans could explain natural phenomena that they couldn't understand. From there, they found that they could control and manipulate others if they could convince them that their actions were being judged by a higher being with limitless power. Humans being humans, the ability to control others took on a life of its own.

Not entirely. Christianity is divinely inspired. God may have given us the framework but man is not omnipotent as God is. We mess up his message frequently. For example it wasn't God's idea to have money changers in his temple. It wasn't God's idea for the church to sell indulgences, it wasn't God's idea to turn a blind eye to Catholic priests molesting children. etc.

yes, since men use religion to control two things; women and sex hence the obsession with being a virgin and the pressure is given to women to remain sexually pure despite no evidence that it helps and in my experience being a virgin actually can lead to serious medical issues.

It seems like it... Of course nothing is entirely sure because nobody came back after death to tell us... If you look at life here on earth... Most likely we live in a simulation

Absolutely. Even IF there is one or more deities, they didn’t write the rules. People did, with divine inspiration as it were. So even if it’s legitimately inspired, humans still created the religions.

Religions are not mad made. They're put upon this Earth to help mankind to to follow God's commandments that we may enter back into his presence after we pass from this earthly life.

    Yes. 100%.

There's no evidence for any god, but there's huge amounts of evidence of people and other animals lying for their own benefit.

Do you have evidence, and can you proof scientifically that you think, that i think or that humans think and feel love?

@IesusHominumSalvator Define "love". How about "pain"? If I understand you correctly, maybe you can define "thinking", too. Then define "god", which is obviously where you're going with this.

There is no question that they are. But that does not mean God isn't real... or that religion is wrong.
When a religion is questionable is when it focuses too much on parts of the Bible instead of the collective word of the it's entirety.

If God exists, God has had to reveal his will in a religion... And only one religion can be the truth.

    And yes God exists.

There are many more man-made religions than genuine religions. The real difference is that, in Christianity, Jesus came to us in person instead of religion searching for something it will never find.

I assume you mean the idea of "god" being man made, instead of the religion? Because religions are undoubtedly man-made. They are organized systems of worshiping a diety.

It could be good luck to end up in nothing. There s no need to fear. But if this is the case, you have almost no or just a little responibiltiy for your own life. Many try to escape facing that fact. I can tell there s allmost some kind of levidence that there is a past life, a life after life, so there s no way to escape...

People who say God doesn’t exist, y’all are going to be in for a rude awakening when you realize God does exist. Religion isn’t man made. Faith of the abrahamic faiths encompassed one God which goes over equality, morality, sincerity, modesty and etc. yes, religion has been altered by man getting away from God’s message therefore modifying gods words is sinful. I know I wouldn’t comment but man it’s sickening how disconnected people are today, people on here see saying things like God is fake and religion is man made. Ok? If people say religion is man made and god doesn’t exist and people believe in ideologies created by the media or government. Is this what life is? That a poor pious person will never get any thing in life when they pass away on this earth? Why do people use the phrase RIP when someone dies? If someone dies, by someone’s thinking a person who dies doesn’t exist anymore so why say RIP? This world is confused by the millions and billions of ideologies that has tainted society and their social construct in their minds. The day will come when people know the truth.

look at it this way, according to the bible, god created the heavens and the earth, nothing can out dot that, but then later on, god created man in his own image, OK, but then god needed the help of man to create woman, by taking a rib from him, then move on, Mary was married, so God must have made her commit adultery, to help him get his only begotten son, and what about her husband, he didn't want sex with his new wife,

@Js3522 look at it this way:
      1. FUCK the BUY-BULL don’t quote it, just throw it in the trash bin
      2. Realize they’re ALL cooked up by MAN, they are not the musings of an all-powerful deity but reflect the values & social norms in the time period they were cooked up, & over the course of centuries used to justify untold horrors & CONTROL other groups of men, PERIOD.
