How religious was your upbringing?

Very much so until my dad's passing when I was 11 years old. I attended Catholic school through 4th grade. I watched my dad pray with fervor when I attended Sunday Mass with him until he became too sick with cancer to attend Mass.

I never understood any of it and quit attending Mass after Dad's passing.

I still struggle to understand it.

What others describe as comforting to them comes across to me as condemnation.

I just don't get it.

Finding 1 John 4:19 helped me to some extent - We love, because first He loved us.

Selfless love may somehow be explained by biology, but to me selfless love is simply divine.

That is the one biblical verse that tenuously connects me to the possibility of a divine creator.

I heard a lot of "God ammit"! and "Jesus Christ, son of a bitch...". Not sure that counts. I met a few people who stood out from their different behavior which I'd say were Christians. Also, I heard of these people called "Jews" in the area, but knew nothing about them. People were always picking or joking about them.

Other than that, there was a Bible on the desk. I opened it once and couldn't make any sense of the writing in old English.

We don't go to church as much but we pray every time we go in the car, etc. Otherwise pretty religious

VERY, i went to a catholic junior school (not the local one, had to catcha bus to school every day), then was sent to an all boys catholic school (again not the local school an hours bus ride away). was dragged to church every week (even on holiday). had to do the whole communion thing and also go to confession if we missed a week of church.

My aunt is the headmaster at the Catholic hs I went to. To be fair I got dealt the very nice, welcoming, reasonable religious family and community. I disagree with them in most things religion, but it works for them, they are happy and they want you to be happy. So it was very religious but in a very free way

My Grandmother took me to Catholic church two times. I went to several Christian weddings, a few Christian funerals, and one Jewish funeral. Other than that a library card supplied me with whatever I was curious about.

My dad teased me a few times when I was in the swimming pool by saying I'm going to baptize you and then threw 5 gallon buckets of water at me. hahaha :D

We went to Mass every Sunday and said our prayers before meals. We prayed the Rosary occasionally as a family. That was about it.

Quite religious. Went to youth scripture studies and early in the morning while in high school. Went to church every Sunday and Sunday School all my life. I still go to church to this day. That is where majority of my friends are at now.
