Do some bible study leaders pretend to be good for status reasons?

I know a few fakes who pretend to be religious for the social benefits and I know others who do believe in God but are full of hate and greed and selfishness, they just hide their flaws in public so that their social benefits exceed their moral or character value.

There is a lot of heresy going on in the Church today Church leaders preaching on popular opinion rather than God's word. Those that change God's word are accursed. Do not follow those people.

Galatians 1:8-9 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

2 Peter 2:1-22 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; ...

This is from 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 NLT

13 "These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve."

These preachers and teachers are not of God nor do they represent God. They work for the Darkness, for Satan... They play "Smoke and Mirrors" and disguise themselves to mislead others but their true character cannot be hidden from Eye of God. He knows their hearts, thoughts, intentions and actions. He will deal with these individuals when the time is right.

It could be that there pretending. But to be very honest. They probably are actually struggling with some issues that if they went public. May end up destroying their chances of helping people in other areas. For instance, you go to an accountant for financial advice but you find out he use to have a extensive criminal record. Would you still trust him? Probably not unless you were desperate. For this reason its very hard to be in a pastoral position. Your every move is scrutinized and judged on a daily basis. All while you as a pastor are trying to get closer with God and find new wisdom and truths in your own life. And while trying to juggle the sins you carry. I never leave a meeting without praying for a pastor, a lot of times they are having a harder time than the congregation. Not always. But a lot won't show it in fear that you'll lose your footing and will. As is with every facet in life. Somethings are good. And some are bad.
