There's no evidence that it's real, and lots of evidence that it's not. We know that personality is in the physical brain, not some bit of magic separate from our vidues. All theories about an afterlife are just wishful thinking. Untestable theories are a waste of time.

@Dargil The evidence that there is no separate soul -- our personalities are an emergent phenomena of the physical brain. When the brain is injured, someone's personality may change. So there's no evidence of a "soul" separate from the body.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. I think we are like everything else on this earth, no different than a leaf or another animal. We simply die and nourish the earth. Our soul simply dies with our body.
