Talking about how a normal human should be, it's laws and religion that guides us. Different places have difference in both these factors. So, are we directionless if they never existed?

I would say normality is defined by balance, self love, patience with self and others, a willingness to condone differences, a sense of calm when situations are not certain or guaranteed, a willingness to influence without being rude or abrasive, a healthy work ethic that is neither dangerous nor lacklustre, a level of honesty that isn't overbearing or without discretion, a joint concern for your own happiness and also the happiness of others. And a preference for kindness over hostility.
So a person that is a good contributor to society. But, a person could have the thought to hurt people but doesn't do it and he'd be considered a good person too. I wondered what would a person be if there was no distinct terms on how he should act. Will he find the rights and wrong himself by exploring and experiencing? Or he'd just be like an animal?
