I’m very, very sorry for your loss. That’s awful. You have my deepest condolences. I’m not sure what advice I could give. You may want to look into some support groups, grief counselors, or even check out wevsitrs like survivors, those family members who had to experience that and go through it.

I wish I knew what to say to you, but this is a grief and tragedy that only you and your family can really fully understand. Try to be there for one another. And remember the way you grieve may be different than your parents, which may be different from other family you have. Some people get angry. Some people get depressed and withdraw. Some people just sob and cry and cry. Some just try to make themselves go to work and try to get through the day. But they are all hurting.

Just be there for one another, and don’t go through this alone. Talk to someone. This is going to hurt for the rest of your life, you’ll remember things, events, holidays. Just don’t go through it alone.

I am sorry for your lost. It's very tragic when you lose someone like that. When your family has a history of suicide it can lead to others in the family doing it because they see a loss of hope. I advice you to see a therapist or a doctor. I can give general advice, but a doctor is more helpful in this situation.

That’s awful, I’m really sorry to hear that. I’m sorry for your loss. So did my brother, albeit slowly, as a result of his opiate addiction, which unexpectedly & sadly took his life just last year. It is tragic & beyond devastating. It’s totally surreal.

I think I’m going to be in permanent shock about loosing my brother. I can barely believe what happened, happened. Some days are better than others, but I think about it every single day.
Maybe sometime in the future, if you’re comfortable, you’d feel like sharing what happened with him? Was he older, younger? Did he leave a note?

Here I was having just replied to our ongoing rant about me, bad mouthing religion — when randomly, I decided (after all this time ) to snoop around & have a look at your questions/answers to try to get an idea about who you are, and what you’re doing on here.
Much to my surprise, after reviewing a bunch of them, I found myself thinking, “she’s actually cool” - “she is rather sensible & is dispensing really sound advice, that I totally agree with”. I certainly didn’t expect to agree with you so much, much less have anything in common with you; …. Then, I came across this post about your brother.

So, again, I’m really sorry about your brother & …while I’m here, I’ll just sat that I’m also sorry in general. I apologize if we got off on the wrong foot. If it’s ok with you, I don’t want to have an adversarial interaction with you anymore, & hope we can bury the hatchet (so to speak)?

I’m sorry I’ve waited so long to respond I’ve not been well. He was my older brother he was coming up for his 24th birthday. He did leave a note it absolutely didn’t help it was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever read. We’re a Jewish family so we do have religion.

well that sucks. the only thing you really can do is mourn... i mean i did not lose a brother myself tho i have lost some people in my life.

i would say the first thing is that you should not think about "what you could have done". that thought leads to nothing but feelings of guilt and regret which aren't even necessarily appropriate. i highly suggest not going that path, cause that helps neither you, nor your brother.

to me personally, i take at least 2 months time to just be sad. remember the good times and try accepting, that they're gone now. then i try to move on by simply asking myself what they would have wanted for me. that usually makes one realize very quickly, that they would have wanted you to pursue happiness in your own life to the best of your ability, cause they wouldn't want you to suffer for them right? so that's pretty much all i can say.

Your brother was in terrible pain. It's the kind of pain you feel when you lose hope. It is a pain that you always carry with you and can see no end in sight.

Suicide is not necessarily a desire to be dead. It can seem to simply be the only logical choice to escape the pain. It is like you are drowning and drowning and then you see a rope (ending things) to grab onto. It is understandable if you take it. Your brother shouldn't be blamed.

So did mine! Jumped off a bridge! However, I recently saw that bridge online and can't imagine how such a short fall could've killed anyone!! Maybe a couple broken limbs but I can't see how it could've killed him! They said his body was completely mangled! From a 15' or 20' drop? HOW?

sorry about that painful situation. my advice for you is, is divide time set some time for memory but the rest of the day, tell yourself wait for the set time.
