Who/what are Jehovah's witnesses?

Are they Jewish or Christian? Why do they have such a weird name?

They're neither. They think they're Christians, but they're not. They believe things that were condemned by the Church as far back as the Council of Nicea in the Fourth Century, namely the Divinity of Christ. So if anything, they're just re-packaged and re-branded Arians.

As for the term Jehovah? It's the Latinized spelling and pronunciation of the Hebrew name for God, which was "Yahweh", or YHWH.

Why do they call themselves Jehovah's Witnessss? 🤷‍♂️

They're a rather odd Protestant sect. "Jehovah" is derived from a mistranslation of Yahweh, and the "witness" part is in the evangelical sense, not the courtroom one.

They don't vote or celebrate birthdays.

I don't know much about the Amish. They have a tradition of sending their young people into the world to decide whether the Amish life is for them.

There have been many reports of psychological and physical abuse from ex-witnesses.

Neither. They aren't Jewish, but they don't believe in the Holy Trinity. They go by a publication from New York called The Watch Tower. It's a cult in my opinion.
