Do a lot of Jewish traditions believe more in an allegorical bible than gentile traditions?

I saw on a channel that a Jewish woman said the bible verse not to take a mother hen with her chicks meant not to tell other women how to raise their kids when you had a difference of opinion.

Most gentiles probably think it means not to prevent others from eating eggs too after you collect your daily eggs.
