I attended Sunday school raised Catholic. For those of you so staunchly opposed to religion, here is what “indoctrination” looks like:

Seven Sacraments

Marriage

Becoming a church official

Taking care of the sick

Confession and penance for reconciling sins

Becoming Catholic

Eating bread and sipping wine, symbolized the body and blood of Christ

Washes away all your sins for a clean slate

I felt some of these teachings before ever attending school. This is what the “evils” of religion looks like.

I don't know what it means to "feel religious", but I am a practicing Catholic. I was baptized into and raised in the Faith.

Since the Catholic Church is more than two thousand years old (and has several millenia more preceding it), there will obviously be a lot of doctrine, but we laymen don't need to know the ins and outs of everything. We need to know the basics. And since there is also a very wide range of different spiritual and devotional practices, we should also know how to find one that best suits each of us.

i am not religious at all but was taught to be. i never believed any of it. i think teaching morality is redundant but nice. i have respect for people of faith. the child’s writing is very heartwarming, but the last bit about going around and making people disciples bothers me. anyhow, it’s very interesting looking at these and gaining perspective. i mean no disrespect in my comments but only to be truthful.

People can come and go as they please in Catholicism. That's why they have had the slogan "Catholics come home" or "Cafeteria Catholics".

Speaking about it is interesting to me in this medium, because I'm from Northern Turkey's Turkic folk. My family's strictly alevi, a sect that's just singularly Turkish.

Most people never even heard of it, some mix them up with Kurdish or Arabian nusayris, no it's a sect that's a mixture of Turkic shamanism, sufi ideologies, and Islam.

My mother's strictly religious in that sense but then again, it's not docrinated sense of religioun, but more like a folk faith

I used to feel ''religious'' back when I was 12. In time, just realised all these things are bullocks

1, i have never felt religious.

2, i needed to be taught to be religious. not from nature nor instinct.

3, i had a religious experience, very emotional a month after joining for mind thinking reasons, while studying a certain prophecy the heart and emotions followed.

4, Are you religious not exactly. just the prescribed faith not life style of religious monk or only holy.

As a child, I participated in religious lessons and attended Sunday Holy Mass. My family is Catholic, so as a child, I didn't have much choice.

In my early 20s, an event occurred in my life that changed the way I viewed religion and my beliefs.

Now, here I am, a witch and definitely not a believer :)

Yep, that is a form of indoctrination. Using the bible to instill loyalty to religion. With no proof to back up what is claimed to be divine revelation. Dangerous in the wrong hands.
