with prayer. also the money you save by not buying a meal that day, your food lasts longer, give to some benefit like orphanage or food kitchen etc.

You decide on what to fast from, whether food, drink, social media, something that is a sacrifice to show the Lord you're serious about what you pray for and then you decide on a timeframe. Everything from half a day to a week and longer. The only rule as prescribed by the Bible is to not sound the trumpets about it and make everybody know you're fasting. Then you're just seeking validation "and you already have your reward" as Scriptures say.
