Do you believe in a human soul? If so, what do you believe it's purpose is?

I don't really from the standpoint of an empiricist but I like the concept from a figurative standpoint and from the standpoint of a pragmatist.
I see it infusing more meaning into something, like seeing a Rembrandt painting as more than mere oil pigment on canvas but a work of art and, even though I'm atheist, inspired by God.
It helps to see things as more than just the sum of their physical properties to infuse maximum value into them. I see it all in the realm of poetry and metaphor. It has the same psychological effect to me for the most part as the theistic notion absent the belief in an afterlife. It helps me to see human beings as more than the sum of their physical properties.
I described more the purpose of the concept of the soul rather than the purpose of the soul, yet I think the purpose of the concept is the purpose of the soul: to see ourselves and others as more than the sum of our physical properties.
From that follows deeper meaning behind love, morality, sacrifice, art, family, honor, justice, peace, war, everything. Everything becomes more meaningful when we infuse a deeper sense of meaning into ourselves and fellow human beings.
I know the difference between a living person and a dead body is the spark of life. Is that spark our Soul? I don't know. When we die that energy running through our body is released. Where that energy goes or what happens to it later, I have no idea. I like to think our energy is sent back to the universe and is utilized again in some way.

Soul is the core program, the bios. When we reincarnate the soul gives us the impulse to become a conscious being. We don't remember most of our former existences, many souls are practically fresh souls without any existence before, but after death a small modification remains. That's why our souls develop with every existence and old souls have much better intuition then fresh ones.
Logically no, but after doing mushrooms as many times as I have, I feel like the existence of a soul is possible. If it exists I don't assume it has a purpose.
I wouldn't say believe in one. There is a rather strange phenomenon that happens when someone dies that presently science can't explain. Though it would be similar to "the soul leaving the body"
Yes. The Soul is the direct connection to G0d.
i have faith that soul is real. its purpose is being "the you" or "the me" that moves the body.
can't determine whether i believe in a thing or not before i understand what exactly a soul is supposed to be. for all i know it goes back in etymology to just mean "air" or "breath".
