If christianity is about love and peace even for your enemy, why did christians waged wars and engaged in crusades throughout history?

That happened during a time when the Catholic Church purposefully controlled men's beliefs.

Most people couldn't read during that time and the church refused to translate the Bible into a common language so the only way men had to know what was in the Bible was from the priest and sadly they lied to men about what was in the Bible as a method of control.

The men who fought in the crusades were lead to believe what they were doing was righteous by the priests.

Sadly, today there are those who haven't read the Bible yet are willing to die for what they think is within it. There are also the dumb people who have been taught incorrectly and will blindly follow evil men.

Because that wasn't Christianity, it was Roman Catholicism. Catholics are taught that Jesus started the Catholic church. In reality, Jesus taught what we now call biblical Christianity. The RCC started forming several hundred years later as error and paganism creeped into Christianity. Through murder and torture, Rome largely forced Christianity underground until the 16th century when the reformation brought it above ground again.

Evolution is the process by which life forms change from one form to another. I don't need to bring evolution and Christianity together; the Church did, as it has for over a century, ever since the preponderance of evidence supported the idea.

And you are correct- we did not descend from a monkey. Monkeys and us (well, our ancestors) descended from a common ancestor, between thirty and forty million years ago. More recently, we descended from proto-chimpanzees.
