Christians and those who read the Bible, is this true?

Hello, my family is Muslim, my own country is secular but most of them are Muslims. Like everyone else, I believed in my family's religion when I was a child, but this religion is not for me. I'm agnostic now. In Islam, the Prophet Jesus is mentioned, and back then, as a child, I loved the Prophet Jesus more than our own prophet. Anyway, going back to our topic, it is said that divorce is prohibited in Christianity. I can't take a bible home right now, but I will soon. I wonder if this is true? So is a woman considered a sinner if she divorces her husband even if she is subjected to violence?

Jesus said you are allowed to divorce for marital unfaithfulness but you are not allowed to divorce for selfish reasons. Moses said you are allowed to divorce if the marriage is unfitting. Some translations use the word unchastity rather than marital unfaithfulness.

I will say chastity means more than just sexual loyalty, it also means consciousness loyalty and conscience appropriateness, meaning a heavy abuser or law breaker should be dismissed without consequence or confrontation.

Marital unfaithfulness is more than just sexual disloyalty. It could mean a lack of commitment, such as prioritizing friends or family over your husband. Prioritizing a dream or hobby over your husband or wife. Choosing a vision or purpose over your obligation to respect and protect your wife or husband as much as you reasonably can and as much as reasonably warranted and needed.

Divorce is not just physical separation, it is emotionally breaking up, if somebody has no attachment to you and you leave the relationship, to me that is an annulment and not a divorce, because divorce involves the break up of a loving relationship that had mutual ties involved.

Howdy! Here's the thing about Christianity: it started out as a Jewish apocalypse cult, forced underground by both Jewish and Roman authorities, and very quickly spread all over the Old World (since Jesus's final command to His disciples was to go forth and spread the Word). Some places were more tolerant of the new faith than others, but since most had to operate underground, and there was no way of faster communication than writing letters, the faith grew up in very different ways in different places. Some sects allow divorce; some don't, and the rules governing it vary quite a bit. There are very few things that are hard-and-fast rules "in Christianity", since it's so diffuse.

Jesus Himself didn't leave any writings (not that survived, anyway), so it all had to be pieced together after the fact, which is the other reason Christianity is so diverse. But from the Bible (which you can access online at https://bible.usccb.org/bible among other places), Jesus said that "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate." (Mark 10:7-9) (which means verses seven to nine of the tenth chapter of the book of Mark, to clarify). But this was in response to His being questioned why there would be Mosaic laws governing divorce if divorce was never supposed to happen at all; Jesus said that was an allowance made because of the hardness of human hearts. It's pretty clear that the INTENTION is that marriage be lifelong, whether it works out that way or not.

Girl, this is definitely a complex issue with reasonable arguments on both sides. As Christians, while divorce is generally discouraged, protecting victims of domestic violence is also really important. Here are a few things I've learned:

- Jesus taught that divorce should only be allowed in cases of adultery. Some interpret this as including emotional/verbal abuse too.

- Many churches now see physical abuse as justification for divorce as well, since no one should stay in a situation that endangers their safety.

- The Bible calls husbands to love their wives sacrificially as Christ loved the church. Abuse goes against that core teaching.

- Staying could enable continued harm. Leaving may be the loving thing to do to keep both parties from sinning further through abuse/tolerating abuse.

- God is compassionate toward the oppressed and wants what's best for all. Safety and healing should take priority over legalism.

So while she would separate from her husband, a victim of violence who divorces to protect herself likely would not be considered a "sinner" in most Christian communities. Each situation is complex, but safety comes first in my view. I hope this perspective helps provide some reassurance! Let me know if any other questions come up.

In the Bible, all violence is considered an offense against God and against humanity. Scripture is full of condemnations of violence – time and again violence is associated with wickedness and condemned as “detestable to the Lord.” Even though Jesus did not speak specifically on the subject of spousal abuse, He really didn’t have to. It should have been obvious to His audience that it was wrong.
If God is as loving as Christians believe Him to be, He would not want a woman to continually subject herself or her children to violence.

1, true can't divorce in usual common situations.

that is the reason anglican separated from pope so he the English king can divorce.

2, the sin is not the actual divorce but after the divorce going to a second spouse.

3 jesus never said "even in that case" and martin muther interpreted a few exceptions for divorcing in protestant churches.

What? What don't I like? What's the problem I don't understand? As a child, when I was a Muslim, I loved and wondered about the life story of Jesus more than Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. I can't read the Bible right now, but I will as soon as possible. This is important to me, I'm just asking you Christians what I've heard to get accurate information. If a woman is subjected to violence and is considered a sinner after divorce, this religion is not for me. I'm just asking to understand
