Which is more acceptable & respectful, to be buried or to be cremated?

Everyone should have their choice. I would say either is more acceptable or respectful. I personally would prefer to be cremated. I'm a visual kinda guy and I don't really like the idea of maggots, worms, and other insects helping to decompose my dead body. I know I'd be dead and it may be ridiculous to think that way, but I'd just prefer it that way. For me, I feel it's more cathartic to be cremated and have my ashes either spread somewhere scenic like in the ocean or tossed at the top of a mountain, or have them mixed with the soil used for a tree seed to start sprouting. I really like the idea of the tree though.

The cremation idea makes sense because of the concept "From dust you came to dust you shall return," but not everyone believes in this.

It does make sense but it's not natural, i can't accept the idea of dropping the body of a person that i love somewhere to be burned till ashes than have the rest of the bones grinded to powder and given to me in a urn, it's so much! I find it disrespectful and cheap!

Burial, means letting nature does it's own thing, at least in a burial, the physical body will always be there so that the loved ones can always visit, pray and out flowers on the grave, no messing uo with body and it will be respected because it was once the vessel that held the soul of our loved one!

Again, it depends. In cultures where cremation is part of the religious beliefs there's a lovely ceremony, very respectful, and the person is very loved. The soul of the person has already risen to God, so it's intact and not desecrated at all.

(Consider also, some people have their organs farmed off after death, so what's buried is not the whole person, 100% intact... or those with disfiguring ailments, etc... Choices are made closer to the moment... I don't think there's just one simple answer for everyone.)

It depends on what the person wanted. For example I want to be cremated, and I think it would be disrespectful for my family to leave my body in tact when they know I want it burned to ash. Some people find that idea uncomfortable. Some find the idea of rotting uncomfortable. Ultimately I won't know what they do because I'll be dead, but I hope they respect me and have me cremated.

Wether i agree on it or i'm against it, i respect the request of the dead person because to me i believe that after we die, we start our afterlife with god, which means you're soul had left the body and now the body has no use anymore but if the dead person can still have a contact with our world, he'll be happy to know that even when he's gone, we still respect his wishes cause he as a person didn't die, only his physical body did, so one day if we meet again in our afterlives, it's not good at all to face the person whom we didn't respect his wishes when he was alive here on earth!

No one will judge you for it. But every time someone is put in a coffin, a tree was killed and died to accompany you to death.

Can the ray of the sun burn a napkin without using anything? Nope! If you take a magnifier which gathers the sun ray and focus it on one point and you aim this single point at the napkin, what happens? It burns, so using the proper method, the sun rays were able to burn the napkin 🙂

If you want to find a way for survival, our whole human brains have to work like a magnifier, focusing and aiming on one objective, which is survival, and believe me if that happens someday, we will make wonders...

Plant roots don't need to reach that deep to benefit. The bacteria in the groundwater decomposes the body and dies in the soil. And that groundwater also disperses the nutrients throughout that soil. If the body is buried deep, the nutrients will reach a wider area instead of being concentrated in one spot. And they spread upward, since the ground gets denser and rockier the further down you go.

If they think cremation is wasteful and that putting my body to use as food for livestock is more respectful than letting it rot, I'm okay with that. Whatever makes them happy or helps them find their closure. It doesn't hurt me any, I'm dead already.

@Serkee we must take into consideration that god is seeing everything and when a person dies, only his/her physical body dies than comes the afterlife, what if there's some sort of connection between our world and the other world, if we can't see the dead in their afterlives, it doesn't mean that they can't see us either, no one wants to see his family treating his dead body with disrespect!

A lot of things are found in this world which we can't detect with our human senses, it doesn't mean that they don't exists, it's just us we can't detect them yet!

Even a lot of scholars and scientists who doesn't believe in god or doesn't believe in the god of the abrahamic books started to believe that there might be something after death, the way the human body works and the brain after death, the still don't have a 100% clear answer but they are suspicious that there's something going on and that death ain't the end but they just got a glimpse of it!

If someday science eas able to prove that death ain't actually the end, the question will be is it good for people to know or not? Like for real if someone knows for sure that death ain't the end, who would stay here on earth 🤣🤣 just saying!
