Yes it does. Here in Wales its the base word for belief e. g credoau-beliefs, Credu-believe, religion-crefydd, creation/ to create- creu all derived from the Latin credo-i believe. there's also a hard line religious group called Credo cymru that campaigns against modernisation in the church, things like women preaching.
