Where does the bread go on hallway?

On Halloween we put bread outside on the windowsills for the messenger of the dead and any of our ancestors that may be passing. When we wake up the bread is always gone. We don't live on a street so it's not like anyone can steal it. I've even put it on a upstairs window outside my bedroom in case it was my dad playing a prank by taking it but in the morning there's not even a crumb. I'm not normally religious but I think there's something paranormal going on that no one can explain.

• Flying animals stole it

Low crime area, kind of place you leave your door open. We're quite far from a road and the dogs would spot a prowler.
Doubt its parents because upstairs window bread goes missing. It would also be an insult to our ancestors.
Only night flying animals are bats and owls. Neither eat bread.
My testimony is beyond reproach

Like the sock monster in the dryer or the butter monster in the refrigerator you also have the mysterious bread monster in some parts of the world on Halloween. As for Halloween where I live the bread monster usually doesn’t show however there is a candy monster instead because for some reason candy seems to vanish in my house.

So I will go back to my first thought of you've got mice.

Try a young cat in your bedroom this year. Older cats are no good because they are lazy and will just watch the mice in a benign kindly way. My older tabby just watches the doves now instead of defending hearth and home as he ought.

Cats can see ghosts and will yowl if there is one snacking.
