For one thing, having an active prayer life. It helps having something transcendent to meditate and reflect on, and helps to call to mind the things that your ancestors faced and overcame in the past.
For another, learning basic principles of logic and philosophy. This helps to realize just how full of stupidity and garbage a lot of people are and make peace with it when they can't (though it's more likely won't) have a sane and reasonable conversation with you. Likewise, then they keep yapping on about how stupid you are, you have the peace of mind to just roll your eyes and walk away.
And lastly, realizing that a lot of people only act like they do on social media. They may truly believe the things that they claim, but take advantage of the anonymity of the internet and a screen name.
I think it takes a lot of work and self awareness, knowing where you can belong in the world and not being too ego driven to accept it. If you're aware of your needs and what outside influences are good or bad for you and you can get rid of the bad ones and take care of the good ones that's a good start but to truly be content you have to find your purpose and the people where you actually belong where you truly fit in. I believe you can have a decent life alone or just with less deep social connections.
But to get to the highest level you need the depth and those people around you.
Usually through a careful curation of information. You are ultimately responsible for everything that happens in your life, so if you want to find peace, you have to make peace. You can’t consume content that makes you scared, or angry, or envious. You can choose to consume media that promotes the ideas you want to see more of, you can also take responsibility for your thoughts and learn to make it so they don’t plague you but rather provide insight and help fine-tune your intuition. Essentially, any changes you want to see have to come from you first before you can see them everywhere else.
Several ways for me, and perhaps because I live where I do?
For me, I find some peace and contentment from my Hard Yoga classes, as the workout is very difficult at times, and leaves me exhausted but satisfied with my effort, and how I was able to do what other more accomplished Yogi's can do.
Other times I go to Strand Beach in in Dana Point on a over-cast day and walk/run down the stairs to the beach and run and walk the board walk to the other end, and run walk the long walk back up to the top, looking at the cliffs, the beautiful surf breaking in over the rocks, feeling alive in an incredible way, and love the fact that I am ALIVE and able to feel and see all of the wonder around me.
surround yourself with others who seek, give and receive the same... peace and contentment...

I just try to find my place in the world.
have you tried not giving a fuck? i mean not 24/7. but sometimes. when you have time for yourself. it's great.
Xanax, Ativan, Valium, Librium Heroin, & Fentanyl.
By withdrawing from it. Society is a treadmill of people just looking to find fault with you for whatever reason. If you withdraw from it you become free of all of this.
Peace and contentment does not come from the things of this world, it comes from knowing that this is only temporary.
Stay off the screens as much as possible.
Depends where you live in in it.
i wonder the same, it's very difficult.
