Karmic law is based on cosmology and in a vacuum at that. I think the resilience you develop or the sense of loss you never want to feel again may push you to retaliate by one upping them. I don't think we can assume structured fairness that easily. Maybe it's a way to find meaning in chaos?

I believe in God, I've seen plenty of evidence to say he's not real, God has never let me down.
