I believe that our sins, depending on what it is , will never be erased or cleansed from people's minds no matter if you bathe yourself in water to wash away your sins. Your sins will never go away.

Getting dunked in water is definitely not going to ever retcon the things you've done in your life. But as long as idiots believe they're automatically forgiven all their wrongdoings because they got dunked, there is no end to the horrible things they will continue to do, confident in the deluded belief that it will all be washed away.
So "waste of time" understates just how harmful the process can be.

No, I do not. Because what you've described is precisely what Baptism does. Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraphs 1213 to 1284 and the Roman Catechism (Catechism of the Counsel of Trent) pages 193 to 203. Sure, you still have the basic inclination towards sin, or concupiscence, but the sins themselves are forgiven.
