When did you realize that church was a waste of time?

when i was around 16. that's when in my culture it was the tradition for boys to go to "confirmation" which is basically half a year of bible study and learning about that religion untill you are welcomed as an "adult" in the church. in that time you spend lots of time with with the pastor and you can ask them about all the things you need to know for your faith. and basically every question i ever asked was met with avoidal, deflection, distraction, gaslighting or dismissal. so i figured that's bullshit and they really don't have the answers. it's just an endless "i know but i'm not telling" game where the joke's on you if you just stop asking.

so basically every time i was skeptical or was testing the logic, the answer was "you just have to believe harder unless you stop asking quesiton". and that to me is equivalent to accepting something as true that you don't know at all to be true. it's pure delusion.

Are you talking a Christian church, or a false religion like Roman Catholicism? There's a big difference. Untold millions of people have been exposed to Catholicism and told 'this is Christianity', and been turned off by it. Essentially inoculated to true Biblical Christianity.

For many Christians, it's not a waste of time. It's a place to worship God with your fellow people and family. I don't go because I'm not ready to get back into the church yet but I will eventually.
