What are your thoughts on the idea of infinity? Do you think there is such a thing?

I'm inspired to ask this because I read an article a few days ago in which a mathematician was explaining how the idea of infinity can be applied to the life of a human being especially concerning the ending of said life. According to this mathematician, since we are made up of many molecules or particles even if somebody chooses to end their life, said life doesn't really end because we're only just killing one small particle of ourselves but we continue to live on just in a other dimension. We are infinite according to the laws of numbers and science. So agree or Disagree? To believe or not to believe? If it's an eye opener for you how does it change your perspective on life?

This is why I'm agnostic. I believe there are things that humans just can't understand... yet. AI may have the processing power and intelligence in the near future to answer a lot of questions we have about existence. Not crossing my fingers though.

Right now, I believe that the concept of time having a beginning and end is incorrect. I think time is infinite. It never had a beginning and doesn't have an end. Humans can't fathom it due to our extremely short lifespans. And we use made up gods to try and explain what we don't understand. Don't know how lightning is created? Make up a god called Thor. Don't know what causes volcano eruptions? The gods must be angry. Afraid to die? Don't worry, if you're good in your life, you can go to heaven, but if you do bad deeds you can eternally rot in hell. It's all nonsense made up by humans.

I do however, lean towards the concept of reincarnation. And most of my family is either Catholic or Christian, so that has nothing to do with my views.

I've read many of the cases of Dr. Ian Stevenson. They're interesting reads, so I highly recommend them.

This is a great video which explains the planes of existence that humans don't have much access to and therefore, find it hard to explain. I'm not sure if it's true, but again... it's what I lean towards. This and reincarnation:

We were designed by God and and we each have a soul. The physical body cannot survive for infinity but our souls can if we are believers in Jesus Christ and go to heaven when we die. The Bible says each of us will have a new, heavenly body.

So, is this a question of science vs. religion?

If we are speaking from a scientific background than we are speaking about our bodies, yes i believe that we just transform from something to something else because nothing in this world disappears...

When it comes to my faith as a christian i believe when we die, our soul goes back to it's creator which means we have an eternal afterlife...

So eventually in both ways we are infinite...

Calling that science is fraud. You can't "equate life and molecules". Sure the atoms will feed the worms and become worm body, but that is not continued life. 1, infinty is cool. 2, i think it is real , not for physical items, but i believe space is infinite in all directions in a true universe idea.

We will likely transform into something else, but I doubt we will be conscious of our new physical shape or form. Maybe we'll contribute in small proportions to a series of new life forms, maybe human, maybe not.

That might in part explain the feeling of déjà vu, the feeling that you have previously experienced a new situation, even though you know you haven't. Are we tapping into someone else's previous experiences?

Not as good a definition of infinity as yours, but I've answered your question.

That's all pseudoscientific nonsense. Infinity is a mathematical symbol that is useful in some mathematical models, like calculus.

And in calculus we don't consider infinity to be a number, it's just a word. If a function f (x) "goes to infinity", it just means that for any number N no matter how large, there is a value of x where f (x) > N.
