Is universe eternal?

I would like to know about your opinions on this topic, but I'm also gonna mention my own opinion. First of all we need to know what "universe" is. My definition is "it's the entirety of our physical world". So, I look at it as a whole made up of parts. Then we have to think about what it means when we say something is eternal. Something is eternal only if we accept that it does not need any cause for its existence. Why? Because being eternal means, it has always been there, coming into existence is meaningless when we talk about it, and thus the cause for coming to existence is also meaningless!! If we say something is eternal but has a cause for its existence, that would be absurd.

Now, if we claim universe is eternal, that means it has always been there and it doesn't have a cause for its existence. But that's again absurd. Think about your body as a whole. This whole exists because the individual parts of it exist. Your body exists, because you hand exists, your body exists beacause of your individual cells. So your body as a whole has a cause for its existence, then your body can not be eternal, because it has a cause for being there. Just apply this to the universe as a whole, universe exists because its individual parts exist, so it has a cause!! Then it cannot be eternal.
