Do you believe in magic?

As I was sitting here gazing into my crystal ball aka staring dreamily at the computer screen while sitting by a warm, cozy fire on a cold, winters night and sipping a hot cider or three, I wondered, as I'm sure all normal people do on a Thursday night, if AI believes in magic, so, being Gen Z , I asked it and got this smugly programmed, non-comital reply:

→ Those experiences are real to the people who have them, even if science explains them differently (pattern recognition, probability, psychology).

If you mean:
📖 Magic as story, myth, and imagination
→ Absolutely real—and foundational to human culture, creativity, and how we understand the world.

So a clean way to put it:

Magic isn’t real as a force that defies physics—but it is real as a human experience.

And honestly? Human experience is powerful enough that it feels magical for a reason.

I’m curious—are you asking from skepticism, belief, curiosity, or just late-night wonder? 🌙""

This is a really convoluted post, young lady, so I'm going to pick one part and stick to that. " Magic isn’t real as a force that defies physics—but it is real as a human experience." That sounds like nice poetry, but what does the last part really MEAN? Now for the first part.

* Defying physics* - Man's understanding of physics is limited to the current knowledge of how matter and energy interact. It would be absurd to assert that at the current time, or really any time, everything knowable is known to man. You'd be a fool to assert that.

Hence, when things happen to defy the current body of knowledge, or an unexplainable event occurs (according to what you know so far), is it "super-natural"? Or unnatural? Is it "defying the laws of physics", or just defying the laws you currently KNOW about physics? I strongly believe it's the latter.

An unexplainable event should never be attributed to any arbitrary source, such as the Divine, or the un-Devine, simply because you "don't know how or why it occurred". If I were to walk into a room and levitate you, that doesn't mean I'm employing "magic", unless you want to label as magic "any conscious manipulation of the unseen forces of nature involving matter and energy". All it would mean is that I have certain ABILITIES to do things involving "nature" that others do not.

Funnily enough it almost seems like it could be real in a way. Such as the idea of speaking something into reality. When you say something it has a ripple effect throughout time. Everyone who hears it is somehow changed by it if only in imperceptible ways. It's the same way with symbols, symbols are speech of a sort. There is power in them to influence people, some are disgusting like Baphomet or the Hammer and sickle but no one who sees them goes away without some kind of reaction. You yourself are affected by occult practices you engage in because it changes your mindset on many levels you aren't even aware of. Symbols and rituals change you mentally and thus physically to some degree. You burn sage or put salt around your house and you feel different and then act different and perceive different. Your face changes, if you're familiar with micro expressions they flit across the face too fast to be seen consciously, but exposure to this kind of mind set doubtlessly alters how your face speaks unconsciously and how others are affected unconsciously. The ritual changed the whole world you live in in imperceptible ways. So, is it real? Not real? Or does it exist in ways we don't fully understand.

Merlin the magician is huge here, we've shopping centres, streets, schools, government buildings etc named in his honour. Now you don't do that if magic isn't real do you?

Interestingly our word for magic also means enchanting as in delightful, our word for wizard from divine. So perhaps that is the true original meaning of magic, not Harry Potter crap, but being charmed and in touch with nature.

Now take our word for cider seidr, derived ultimately from hebrew, it's the same word the vikings used for magic. And isn't turning boring apples into alcohol magical? Have you not imbibed cider and the next day found yourself wondering who's bed am I in? How did I get here? It's magic.

While I don't personally believe in it, I've heard stories about both Wiccan and Voodoo. People practicing it on people and it making them act funny or weird. So I try to stir clear of those people who practice it.

Genuinely wish I did. This world seems like it'd be a lot more interesting with stuff like magic and supernatural stuff. But I've yet to witness or experience anything of the kind. The most supernatural thing I lean towards (not even necessarily believe 100%) is the existence of different planes of existence and reincarnation, just from what I've read online in my rabbit hole dives.

100% 😊 the way we see the world creates the world we live in.

We can't control our emotions but we can controls how we respond to them. That's my favorite example magic. When someone gets mad but remains calm everyone one around them sees that and does the same thing. When someone gets mad and acts out everyone around them does the same thing... its magic

I believe that Satan has powers and He gives those powers to a person in order to bring that person to his side. Once he has that person, then he gradually destroy that person and that person's loved ones. God on the other hand also has powers, but He doesn't hand them out. He performed miracles to so that some people would believe. He doesn't do it too often, because then people would start following him for the wrong reasons. So yes I do believe there are forces that alter our reality.
