Does pride inevitably corrupt people and destroy their virtue?

I believe one reason intelligent and rich people have bad relationships is that access to pride can corrupt you and make you immoral.

Jesus said his followers would be heavily criticized and slandered by the world and he might let it happen to keep his children humble, so they do not become proud. Because pride corrupts you and leads to hell and suffering.

I mean simply put pride leads you away from God which yes indeed corrupts them.
Also pride doesn't always have to show in the form of "I have everything blah blah blah l don't need God" ... it's more delicate as pride can also be "oh I did this and this and I'm a bad person and so God can't save me" which is the pity pride. So in terms of how we live our live in all things it's hard because it's a tight rope, narrow path requires balance.
Good news though it's through God that we are transformed not try better and harder in order to be one with God as will power is a losing battle for sin but with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE... Amen
