Divine Revelation tells us that there will be a cataclysmic battle at Mount Megiddo in Israel (more commonly known as "Armageddon").

Before then, there will be a massive apostasy from Christ and His Church (the Catholic Church), accompanied by the arrival of the ultimate false prophet, AKA, "son of perdition", "man of sin", "man of lawlessness", but perhaps most commonly known as The Anti-Christ (who, according to the Church Fathers, will be Jewish, from Israel, and descended from the tribe of Dan). This wicked, evil, contemptible figure will fool and deceive untold numbers of people into following and worshipping him and will shut down all public worship of Jesus Christ for a period of 1,290 days, or three and a half years. Christ will return soon after and kill him and cast him into Hell.

There's also speculation that the Jews will rebuild their temple in Jerusalem and begin their ancient sacrifices again and that the pope at that time will be Peter the Roman (or Peter II).

Whether that time is upon us or not is not given for us to know. This is just me (well, me and other commentators) , I think we're living through a preview of what will happen. Father Chad Ripperger was recently on the Shawn Ryan Show and said something quite unsettling, which I agree with and will quote as best I can: "If we are not living in the end of days, then God have mercy on those who do."
