Why do some claim religious people are immune to black magic curses?

A guy told me that a saved Christian does not get harmed when a Satanist curses them, and sometimes the curse bounces off the Christian and returns to kill the Satanist instead.

I believe a lot of the teaching in the bible are allegorical rather than literal. Black magic sounds reminiscent of the salem witch trials. A possession can be a bad LSD trip. Demons are a proxy of mental illness and addiction. I know a lot of people in the church disagree with me, but that’s just how I believe it’s intended to be read.
