I prefer science, over religion, due to the fact that science can present quantifiable, reproduceable results, and isn't afraid to re-evaluate theories based on new evidence.
Religion relies upon faith, in the absence of proof. Since I like evidence-based reasoning, I choose to believe the science.
Current scientific evidence suggests that we evolved. We have evidence of evolution, and can trace the lineages of many species, including humans.
There is no hard evidence that we were created by some form of a supreme being. If, at some point in the future, some compelling evidence is discovered that we were, then I will re-eveluate what I believe.
Entity in shape religions try to sell god their sheep doesn't exist. Everything else is environmental adaptation because universe has rules and those rules were defined by something but it wasn't a man who creates clay figures and magically turn them into living beings.
No body agrees with me. But it is a combination of the two. Physical matter had to be created by the big bang. before evolution could occur. Energy to matter, that is something we are having big problems with. Our Creator did not.
Yours is not an unpopular opinion.
We magically and randomly evolved over 6 or 7 million years ago from chimps.
That's what the intellectuals teaches us and we should never doubt their supreme intelligence nor what they teach us because what the superior intellectuals teach is always 100% right.
