Texas Lawmakers Want Religious Indoctrination In Schools — May God Help Us All

In a disturbing yet not exactly surprising move, Republicans in the Texas statehouse have taken the first steps toward passing three bills that inject religion into public schools. One requires public schools to display “in a conspicuous place” the Ten Commandments in every classroom. Another measure will allow schools to require prayer and Bible reading time each school day for students and employees who give their consent to participate.
A third bill would ensure school employees the right to “engage in religious speech or prayer while on duty.”

It’s not the first effort by Texas Republicans to inject religion into public schools. In 2021, the state passed a law requiring schools to display donated “In God we trust” signs.

And if you think these bills don’t have a shot at passing muster in the U. S. Supreme Court (should they be appealed on constitutional grounds), guess again.

Texas lawmakers noted that the Supreme Court paved the way for these bills after it sided with Joe Kennedy, the high school football coach in Washington state who was fired for praying at football games. The court ruled that Kennedy was praying as a private citizen, not as an employee of the district.

Know who represented that coach? The First Liberty Institute, the organization that brought us Matthew Kacsmaryk, the federal judge in Texas who lit the legal fuse to ban the abortion medication mifepristone from the marketplace.

Texas state Sen. Phil King, author of Senate Bill 1515, said the Ten Commandments are part of American heritage and it’s time to bring them back into the classroom.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Says Disney Lawsuit Is Political

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday shrugged off Disney’s lawsuit against him as politically motivated, and that it was time for the iconic company to stop enjoying favorable treatment in his state.

Disney sued DeSantis on Wednesday over the Republican’s appointment of a board of supervisors in its self-governed theme park district, alleging the governor waged a “targeted campaign of government retaliation” after the company opposed a law critics call, “Don’t Say Gay.”

The legal filing is the latest salvo in a more than year-old feud between Disney and DeSantis that has engulfed the governor in criticism as he prepares to launch an expected 2024 presidential bid.
“They’re upset because they’re having to live by the same rules as everybody else. They don’t want to pay the same taxes as everybody else and they want to be able to control things without proper oversight,” DeSantis said during a visit to Israel. “The days of putting one company on a pedestal with no accountability are over in the state of Florida.”

DeSantis was speaking on the third leg of an international trip meant to burnish his foreign policy credentials ahead of a potential campaign for the Republican presidential nomination as a key rival to former President Donald Trump.
DeSantis has dived headlong into the fray with Disney, a major driver of tourism and a font for employment in Florida, as business leaders and White House rivals have bashed his stance as a rejection of the small-government tenets of conservatism.

The fight began last year after Disney, in the face of significant pressure, publicly opposed a state law that bans classroom lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in early grades, a policy critics call “Don’t Say Gay.”

You men and women already know what up just like last time we will be having some new choices and remember we don't have no right or wrong answers and this is a judgement free zone so ladies and gentlemen don't put down others choices.

Judging from all of the choices personally for me I generally wouldn't mind being a high school principal, yes I know most principles don't make as much compared to all of the others on this list but I would rather help out students in a way that doesn't technically involves me actually being in the classroom I definitely wouldn't mind being a school principal compared to everything in the list. But that is only my choice ladies and gentlemen from this entire career choices which job wouldn't mind mind working as?

I am 28, and I missed out on a lot of social-developmental milestones during my youth that I feel haunts me till this day.

I just awoke a few minutes ago from a dream where I was in my old middle school and I was all grown up. Everything had changed, like my old band director was gone and her classroom was abandoned. I woke up feeling very sad. It was a dream about growing up and everything changing over time.

All my former friends today are married with kids. I am the last one to be unmarried and childless. Even worse, I still never had a real girlfriend.

My biggest regret in life is not experiencing love and romantic acceptance/validation from the opposite sex in my youth. I missed out on young romance for the most part. During high school, I hardly had any friends. The ones I did have I didn't hang out too much outside school. It was a shock the one time I went out with my friend's group of friends, because I never had an actual group of friends I hung out with until that one time.
