Girls, how do you like for an unknown guy to approach you for as simple as a conversation?

I was sitting in a class, and I needed to ask a question to the girl in front of me.

I began to tap on her shoulder, no response. She was listening to what sir were saying to other students about something.

I began to say "Sister, sister". And after two to three repetitions, she was able to break away from that and focus on me.

My friend later told me to never say "sister" to girls our age. They can become annoyed. And definitely blazingly angered if called "aunty".

He also said that the other girl in the classroom was laughing, but I did not notice it as I was busy.

But I noticed that the girl in front of me was not even a bit annoyed by me calling her sister. In fact self introduced herself first.

So, how do you like an unknown person to approach you or start a conversation with you?

The class was over. Sir was just talking about something not intended for everybody.

Well, I always feel uneasy when a stranger approaches me (regardless of their gender). I never know what are they going to say or if I'm in danger. I personally wouldn't like to have someone tapping my shoulder and calling me "sister". But this happened to me before during classes.

In your case this was the only way of talking to the girl, so I don't blame you. I'm not your age, but I agree with your friend. So now, you know that you shouldn't do it again You were lucky because the girl didn't get angry.

If a stranger wants or needs to talk to me, they could say start with "hi" and then ask me a question or tell me what they want.

I sort of forgot to say excuse me or something like that in the moment. Glad she reacted in a positive manner.

Maybe you were nervous at the moment, that's why you forgot. It's normal. Next time you know. Yes, you were lucky. She could have had a bad reaction.

For a start poking people in class while their listening to a lecture and calling them sister isn't appropriate is it? Surely this kind of stuff was taught to you in childhood.

Approach at an appropriate time and place and chat to us like we're human beings.

The lecture was already over. Sir was talking to someone else. It was not intended for everybody.

I like the person to walk up to me and have an interesting convo starter. But I’m always polite to people even if they just say “Hey. What’s up?” I’m only rude and ignore them if they’re really disrespectful (which hardly ever happens at my school).

He can just start talking and I’ll respond, im friendly. But i dont like feeling cornered so i do feel more comfortable when others are nearby in the background.

How about you wait until the class is over and then catch her attention? You could even break the ice by talking about something discussed in the lecture.

Well, it depends on where I'm at and what I'm doing If it's a place like work, school etc. I rather people not try and have a random conversation with me. But if I'm at the park, store etc. then go for it.

In a classroom where the teacher/ professor is taking, a simple tap on my shoulder is fine enough. Or tapping and sing "excuse me" or something
