I don’t have kids of my own, but i’ve helped to raise many. It’s phenomenal how adaptive they are. I had a girlfriend chastise me for brushing my teeth outside of the bathroom. Apparently her son started doing it too, and he hadn’t developed the skills to keep toothpaste and spittle from getting everywhere. Ell oh ell!
I was at my cousin’s house watching a movie. His daughter was playing in a separate room. We heard her say, “Dammit!” with a very similar inflection and tone to his own. Then she repeated herself twice more, much like he often does. After we stopped laughing, he took the opportunity to attempt to teach her better restraint. Ell oh ell!

One of my sons whisper to himself when he’s in bed and trying to go to sleep. I do that a lot too.

Diving into the mini-me phenomenon, it’s hilarious how my 7-year-old daughter has picked up my wife's and my quirks. She’s the queen of “silent judging” just like my wife. If she raises her eyebrow at something, better believe you've got something to explain! From me, she’s inherited the ‘deep in thought’ look, usually followed by an "uh-huh" that means she’s not paying a bit of attention. It’s a blend of mystery and comedy watching her navigate these inherited traits. Parenthood is like looking into a mirror, but with more giggles and unexpected reminders of your own habits!
