What's with some guys that want to have girls chasing after them even though they don't want them?

I don't know what is happening with this scenario but I have seen it a lot lately and it happened to my friends too.

Some dudes for an unknown reason flirt with you and when things are starting to get serious they freeze and are not taking it any further. And when you're trying to detach from them they will start again showing sighs of interest etc. The "funny" part is that they will throw you under the bus when they are talking to their friends like you're desperate etc.

It is confusing cause you don't really know if they are genuinely interested or if they were interested in you at the first place

Anyways my questions are what kind of behavior is that and what are some "tips" to avoid those kind of people.

Attention. Boost their ego. Same thing pretty much a lot of women do. They may not be interested in them but they still like that attention. When the person stops following or chasing them then they wonder why? It’s like wait a minute you weren’t even interested in them to begin w but now that they don’t follow you you’re wondering why?

It may be because they just want to stoke their egos. I find it difficult to believe that if it gets serious they do not want to take it to another level (including sex) How old are these guys u are referring to?

Same reason girls post spicy pictures online. They want to feel wanted while not having to give anything in return.
