Why do some guys date around but never get into a serious relationship? is it the girls fault or just him?

I was seeing this guy for 6 months but ended things because I wanted some thing serious (girlfriend title) but he didn’t. We went on loads of dates and he treated me well but just didn’t want to make it official cause apparently his ex hurt him

I’ve recently got in touch with him (as friends) and he told me he’s been on a few dates with girls since we stopped speaking

he's 25, still single, taking all these girls on dates but hasn’t got into a relationship.. why do some guys not want relationships?

why invest money into a girl, sleep with her, text her everyday.. but not want to make it official?

at first I thought maybe it was me, maybe I wasn’t good looking enough or funny enough. But a year later and he still hasn’t found a girlfriend makes me think.. maybe it’s him

Some men don’t want to feel tied down. Which is unfortunate so many feel that way nowadays.

I’d suggest making your position clear on your first date what your relationship goals are. Cover the basics of your core values and beliefs. Whether you want children eventually. The stuff which will be deal breakers in a long term relationship.

Also hold off on sex for a few months. Plus a kiss the first few dates. So, you get to know the person first. Make sure he knows this position too. If he argues, still makes moves or suggest going to your or his place. You’ll know he doesn’t take you seriously and should end it right then and there.

Basically you want to weed out the guys who aren’t looking for a real relationship, marriage and family. As soon as possible.

The guys who want a serious relationship will love that. They’ll also love knowing you like to wait. As it means to them you aren’t making out or having sex with lots of random men.

If you keep having the same issues. Change the venues where you meet men. Don’t go out with men who randomly come up, sweet talk you, talk about how pretty you are and generally pursue you relentlessly. Definitely not one asking you to go get drinks or to the club.

I think girls in general need to explicitly state at the beginning that they are seeking a relationship. Otherwise they will be treated like a friends with benefits, and likely no longer be girlfriend material.

You were dating him 6 months and it still wasn't official, usually that discussion happens before 2-3 months.

Some people both men and women go through periods where they just don't want to commit to something, and that can be for various reasons. But yes if he was hurt by an ex that would certainly be a reason why he wouldn't want to commit. After my divorce I tried dating for a bit and decided it's not what I wanted at the moment and didn't want to get back into a steady relationship, it's not that I was hurt by it, it's just I realised I didn't need to commit to someone for now and want to just have fun with whoever I wanted to. Maybe down the line things will change and I'll feel differently, or maybe someone will come along that would change my mind on that.
