I don't recall being too empathetic as a kid. I wasn't overly bad (never hurt anything on purpose) but I wasn't an ''I love all living things, they are god's creatures'' animal lover extreme either.

Secondly, I could be watching scary and dramatic films. Most of the times, it didn't faze me at all. I saw the Lion King as a 6-7 year-old the first time and nope, I didn't cry.

I Was rearainging the rooms in my house today. Whenever I've done or seen anyone else do this in my life, there's always a stark difference between the carpet that's been hidden under furniture and the rest of it.

This time I decided to take a pic of the worst patch I could find and post it online with the caption 'Seeing the difference in the carpet when you move furniture 🙈'

When my husband saw it he was unhappy as he said his family would see it and be judgmental. I Brushed it off saying that all carpets look like that when you move things around. Also, I thought that aswell as wear, part of the reason it always looks like this is because the carpet has been so pressed down and compacted, kind of like when you mow a lawn it looks as if there's lines where the grass has been pushed in opposite directions. The piece of furniture I'd moved was very heavy and had been there months and months, plus I hadn't vaccumed yet that day. (I Did so right after posting it) I Also moved things in other parts of the room, and there was still a difference but less so, I just chose the most extreme example to post. I Brushed the clean part of the carpet a little with my hand, and found it because a much similar colour to the darker side, which perhaps matches with my theory that it's partially down to compaction.

So I left it up, but then as my husband had predicted, different family members of his started reacting to it and leaving snarky comments. Some relatives of his who I barely even know made direct comments against me.

I Became embarrassed and regretted putting it up, I'd honestly just thought it would make people chuckle, now I feel self-conscious and paranoid. Not only does it seems I'm a much more messy person than I realised, but it's also exposed some of the views people have on me, who've barely even gotten to know me.

So basically I'm asking you, is this normal? Does the same happen in your house? Or are they right and I'm just super unclean.
