See it Was laundry day. Since I lost my washing machine in a recent flood things had piled up and I was literally down to the bare minimum. All left was One long summer and nothing else. I didn't stress it thinking I'm fine I don't have to go to work today. Oops big mistake turns out I was looking at the wrong week schedule. Luckily I did discover this. But it was quite late in the day. 😳 I flew off the couch gathered all the laundry ran to the laundromat. By the time I was done with everything I had 10 minutes to get to work I still had to figure out dinner for the family and run back to the house to get my work shoes. I snagged the shoes dug my freshly washed work shirt out of the clean laundry toss it on over my dress. Now 5 mins left. Order takeout over Bluetooth for the family. Get to work run to the clock punch in. 😌 Phew made it with 2 mins left of the grace period. Moments later a customer walks by me munching on something. My tummy rumbles. 🤨 DAMN I left my protein bar at the house! I shrug it off 🤷 and go to tuck my phone into my bra... 😳 NO BRA! As the next thought comes to me I slowly look down 👇... and ya OOPS 😬 that's not all that's missing... 🤯😱😳

What crazy oops moments have you had happen before or during work?

I am so perturbed, I’m very down on myself at the moment. My probation period ends 7/26 and I felt like I was doing fine until yesterday when my boss approached me about how I did a presentation with students. She said I was okay but I need to stand up and show authority in front of the classroom. Last time I sat in the back because the coordinator was presenting for me but this time I ran it on the computer in the front by myself (she joined virtually). But she wanted me to stand up when she came in the class after, I sat while she and the other coordinator talked to get feedback from students. I hate getting corrections, this happened at my previous job often and I really hoped it would not take place again. I’ve been getting good feedback here, last week she said she’d be taking a step back to pretty much test me as this is my last month on probation. Considering the position is meant for two people, the second person hired alongside me quit after two weeks to take care of family. I feel like she should expect that I need more guidance, I kinda feel like I’ve been handed to the wolves. Her other feedback was that she would expect I take more initiative & not doubt myself/going to her for reassurance. Today, we did a conference call with corporate and twice she made me feel like I wasn’t doing my job. One to ask that I follow up with education about a grad, another time to let corporate know that I would be updating the chart to add more grads (there were a few missing). I really try to be punctual but things slip.

For about the second time, money has gone short from the register at this family owned and largely run business. The first time it was about 80 dollars over two days (I was working those days) I think and now in a 5 hour period, 70 dollars went missing with 3 people including me working the shift. One being his own daughter. He called once his daughter informed him of the shortage and told me and my coworker he doesn't really think anyone is stealing but that we need to make sure we're giving back correct amounts of money to customers.
Last time this happened my hours got shortened greatly. I'm the newest person there but I am not that incompetent at the register. I ask questions throughout the day when I'm unsure and if anything I would overcharge people.

I feel awkward thinking he might suspect it's me. We have camera's pointed at the register. Should I send him an email telling him that I cannot fathom me being that terrible at the register and I'm sorry for the missing money, and maybe my next shift someone should watch me the whole time to know I don't mess up that badly. Anything that needs to be done to clear suspicion of me?

Business was slow when I started my shift this afternoon, how could I possibly give back 70 dollars change in total to only about 15-20 customers when the register tells me the amount to give back?
