Has anyone ever lived in different states before?

I’m having a difficult time right now and want to see if anyone else can relate. But I’ve lived in different states for extended periods of time and I’m really struggling with missing old times. Missing old friends. It’s like missing another life that you lived, completely.

Has anyone ever felt this? I feel torn. Split in two, really, split into three because I lived in a third state. I have love for all three places, but my home state is really finally on its last legs for me. I feel like moving again, but the thought of upsetting my friends is bothering me quite a bit. Very tough, and especially wanting to upend again with such high costs of living. I don't know what to do.

I have lived in different states and countries. There's a story behind everytime I moved, and I have completely lost count of how many moves there were.

I often feel the itch to move again. My family and friends never really understood when I left and I'm always "new in town".

Yes, I miss my old life. When I talk to my husband and kids, I often refer to things as, "during my former life." I have one box with a few memories inside and shared it with them only once. They were quiet and impressed. That's that.

On a higher note, I love my life with my kids more than anything I have ever done, more than any place I have ever been, more than anyone. 💖

Can relate to exactly as you describe , Im an Aussie , residing in Thailand ( and caught here even longer due to covid ) , Im from Victoria Australia , most of my life , I miss many things in Australia , but mostly my daughter of course ( my other daughter is in Denmark ) , so initially I left Vic for Qld , I loved Qld , it was me really , but I missed things about Vic ( mainly friends , but some other things ) , now in Thai , I really miss Qld , and Im going back to Brisbane for first time in 4 years on the 27 th --jayyyyyyyy - but then I know there is heeps I will miss about Thai , so always my intent was to return to Australia every years ( pre covid ) , Aussie borders were just shut to ALL ! Including citizens.
So I completely understand your circumstance , and really , as above , there is no answer , you just have to deal your cards as best you can without being detrimental to your own situation.
Id also really like to go to Denmark lol - Oh dear , its never easy.

I’ve lived in different states and countries. I do understand what you mean. I think people like us will always feel that emptiness of loss. Leaving behind a life as you know it is hard. Makes it harder to blend in with your new one. I think subconsciously you feel you might lose that too anyway.
