The world 500 years ago had an approximate population of 500 million. And now it's 8 billion 500 years later. Going by those rates, the population 500 years from now would be 60 billion people. So is overpopulation REALLY a myth? Do we need a reset?
We need a good culling of about 4-7 billion people and start over. I support this 💯!! Even if we found a way to sustain our parasitic infestation on this ball of dirt we would be better off as a species with strict population controls. That said, I also believe procreation is an almost unfettered right of almost every individual. IOW, Im a hypocrite out of ideas except for planetary colonization as a way out of this mess.

The reason that humanity now has one of the LOWEST levels of impact on our environment, relative to our biomass, of any species on Earth is due entirely to the excess population we have, which allows us to create innovators and refiners and NOT have 95% of our population devoted to growing food.
Space exploration, still obscenely expensive, was funded largely because populations had grown so large that a war between the US and USSR would've destroyed civilization, and yet it offers (via lunar helium-3 mining) the best possibility we yet have for clean (well, with readily and easily contained pollution, at least) energy production.
All that said, overpopulation is definitely NOT a myth; there are limits to what the world can support- we're just nowhere near them. As a whole, that is; individual areas are a different story.
I don't know man... the declining soil quality doesn't bode well for our future. We might be getting close to what we can actually sustain without changing our water consumption and diet. The environmental situation definitely isn't as dire as some people would have us believe, but it isn't great.
I believe the reset is built in. I think humans tend to be a little arrogant and think we’re smarter or above the system of the world around us.
Currently we’re already experiencing several resets. The most provable and telling one is the collapsing birthrate worldwide. Nearly every country is below replacement. Meaning in 50-100 years we could potentially see a decline of 40-60% of the global population. Nothing is being done to counter this. Additionally there are also cracks seen throughout the civilized world that are indicative of financial collapse, world war, civil wars, etc. Finally if you believe in the Catastrophe Scientific Theory you believe that the world goes through major extinction periods every 10-12,000 years due to the solar systems position in the Milky Way galaxy. We’re currently on the latter end of that time scale now and while he worlds governments and elites chastise the plebeian population about “climate change”, they’re really just preparing to save themselves.

yes and it is being done by govt now. divisions between wealthy and poor are too great. as resources funnel to one side, as wealth is lost... death and suffering follow. we must be careful, to avoid that.
