So where I work, employee policy is you get a meal per shift. When I was working, the shift leader made "the meal" (pork ribs). There was no starch or vegetable, just ribs. Not really a "meal" according to FDA guidelines, any school/institutional cafeteria, or from my time as a chef. I got back from an outing with my client and the shift leader said she would take over for me so I could get some food. She's got other duties, so I didn't want to take too long. I just grabbed a small (4 ribs/ half rack) portion, went outside and scarfed it down (in about 10 minutes). The ribs were undercooked; not bad, but tough to get off the bone as opposed to falling off the way they should be. I came back inside and took back over.

About an hour later, I took another portion (9 ribs/ full rack), wrapped in tinfoil, and set in the oven on low so they could cook fully and I could get a decent portion rather than a quick bite.

The shift leader asked me about what was in the oven, and started giving me shit about "being mindful" that the food belonged to the clients (they already eaten all they wanted and there was still about 3lbs left over). She also asked me to wash some of the dishes (her task) as she was "tired of cleaning". I said we were entitled to a meal, and she said I had already had a meal, and "it's okay, just be mindful.". I didn't say anything else, I ended up only taking another 1/2 rack, and put the other half I had cooked back with the rest of the leftovers.

I started thinking it was kind of messed up to treat me like this, also to give me a portion of her tasks. The other person I worked with sat on his butt for 30 minutes eating and looking at his phone. Am I overreacting that I was treated unfairly?

In a lot of countries men abuse their women. Such men should not be considered masculine since they are not protective of those who need protection

But In America we protect our women. But at the same time, unlike in a lot of western countries we’re not such weak men that we’re willing to have other people boss us around. We like to take charge and we’re confident in ourselves.

And we’re not such weak men either that we’re willing to surrender our rights without a fight. There are too many western countries on this Earth led by weak men who have no ambition and determination. We are not one of them.

My point being American men are tough and courageous. We are hardworking and caring towards the people we love.
