DeSantis’s office says he will boycott NBC, MSNBC over Andrea Mitchell question on Black history

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will boycott media appearances on NBC News and MSNBC shows, according to his press team, until one of the network’s star reporters apologizes for a question she posed about the governor’s education policies.

“There will be no consideration of anything related to NBC Universal or its affiliates until and at least Andrea Mitchell corrects the blatant lie she made about the governor,” DeSantis’s press secretary, Bryan Griffin, said in an email to the network that he posted on Twitter.

The “lie” that the DeSantis camp is protesting is a question Mitchell put to Vice President Harris last week, in which she asked: “What does Governor Ron DeSantis not know about Black history and the Black experience when he says that slavery and the aftermath of slavery should not be taught to Florida schoolchildren?”

Mitchell later said her questioning was “imprecise” but did not explicitly apologize. The Hill has reached out to NBC for further comment.

Griffin said NBC and its affiliates must “display a consistent track record of truthful reporting” before DeSantis, who has had an often acrimonious relationship with the mainstream media, agrees to future appearances.

Last year, DeSantis signed into law the Stop WOKE Act, which prohibited the teaching of Critical Race Theory in Florida schools, as well as lessons about historical topics in ways that would make someone feel personally responsible for a past wrong based on their own race, sex or national origin.

Critics say the measure unfairly limits the teaching of subjects such as the Civil War and the Jim Crow era.

I’ll just make a list:

* Smiles and waves first whenever she sees you and looks down
* Looks at you from afar but often I just catch her looking away or sits somewhere she can see you
* Chatty and bubbly and asking questions one day and quiet and not very ‘into the conversation’ the next? Like short answers, quiet etc. Also fiddling with stuff like a phone but not actually using it. Just tapping some buttons quickly and putting it down. This was when she was quiet.
* Sometimes only does a slight smile, rather than full-on belly laughing, when telling a joke or saying something in a humorous way
* Shows you photos of stuff on their phone
* Plays with hair and then turns and looks right at you (knew I was in the room beforehand)
* Tells you about some of their likes and dislikes (music, favourite weather, pets, future plans)
* Open body language - feet pointing towards me, arms aren’t folded but by her sides, sits straight
* More confident when with friends
* When talking, makes eye contact for a few seconds and then looks down or to the side whist talking and smiling a bit
* Always facing you (whole body and feet) when talking and standing

Bonus one:
* Tried to talk to me first many times in the past (but I didn’t pay much notice at the time as I was occupied with so much stuff at the time) A few of those past interactions she was fine talking and others she was quiet.

^ This above one makes me think she’s liked me for a while and usually, I’d imagine a introverted girl or a shy girl wouldn’t try to get a guys attention anymore than twice before giving up. She’s tried like… 6 times since October last year.

FYI - I’ve already gotten past the approach barrier and we’ve spoken a few times recently for about 25 minutes each time.

Republicans to adopt loyalty pledge for debate participants

Republican presidential candidates will be blocked from the debate stage this summer if they do not sign a pledge to support the GOP’s ultimate presidential nominee, according to draft language set to be adopted when the Republican National Committee meets next week.

The proposal sets up a potential clash with former President Donald Trump, who has raised the possibility of leaving the Republican Party and launching an independent candidacy if he does not win the GOP nomination outright. While RNC officials and Trump aides downplay that possibility, such a move could destroy the GOP’s White House aspirations in 2024 and raise existential questions about the party’s future.

“After the primary, it is imperative to the health and growth of our Republican Party, as well as the country, that we all come together and unite behind our nominee to defeat Joe Biden and the Democrats,” RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said in a statement to The Associated Press when asked about the loyalty pledge.

As many as a dozen Republicans are expected to enter the 2024 presidential contest as the GOP braces for an all-out civil war in the months ahead.

Much of the party is eager to move past Trump and his divisive politics, but in reality, Republican leaders have few, if any, tools to control the former president given his popularity with the GOP’s most passionate voters. RNC leaders are hopeful that a loyalty pledge, while ultimately unenforceable, would generate some shared commitment to unity, albeit a fragile one, as the presidential primary season takes off.

I dont know why, but ever since I moved out of my old place due to moisture, women have been stroking their hair when they look at me; this used to only happen the day my hair was washed; at my old place the moisture meant it went horrible overnight - this isn't the case at my new place. But then I'm left with the question...

Why do women touch their hair now when they see me? ... on the train, behind the counter, at work, in the street. Does it mean they like how I look, and if so, how am I meant to respond? Or should I respond at all? (So far I haven't).

I dont have much experience with women. Especially with how things have gone; the only date I've been on (or rather, was invited on) was with a crazed Canadian woman [the full stereotype], and The One I was infatuated with lead me on - only to gently let me down when I caught feelings... first breakup I guess? But at least I now know my type. She was perfect ;(

Is the hair stroking/twirling flirting? And what over gestures should I look out for?
