This depends on the ex.

There are a 1-2 where I would gladly lead on and burn them preemptively. Reason being is what they did to me has never been done to them before. They actually need a painful lesson to see what their shitty decisions can do to people.

For example I had one ex completely ghost me after 9 months of dating after a minor argument. If she had experienced that herself (doubt she ever has) she would think twice about doing it to someone else. I however just never ghosted anybody out of simple principles. I always gave someone closure no matter how uncomfortable it was. But some people unfortunately just don’t have respect and common sense and need the school of hard knocks.

However I would just ignore others and avoid dating them. There is one girl I would have done a better job with communicating/responding with before she made a horrible decision (99.99% sure she cheated). That one could do turned out differently. But I would definitely kept my guard up.

At 44, with far too much dating experience, I’ve only recently heard this repeatedly from a potential partner. One thing I know sure is that I know more about her than she knows about me.

In other words, while I’m far far far far from perfect, I know for a fact that our conversations are not overly focused on me.

Seems like she says it whenever we talk about things going on in the outside world not directly related to us.

I don’t want to say “thank you” or “that’s not true”. In fact, I see no good response to what I’ve come to believe is quite obnoxious. But maybe I have no idea what the hell I’m talking about.
