I think of all the men who have made humongous sacrifices for their children such as quitting addictive drugs to gain custody of them or work 2-4 jobs to buy them toys and video games. I think of woman who became pregnant before epidurals were invented and chose to have ten children when they were working 18-20 hour days to take care of them. I wonder if protecting others could make you as happy as a vacation to a luxury yacht in Paris because even the very rich choose to have their own biological children instead of getting a surrogate to do it for them.

Anyway, I was thinking. I have a number of friends, African-American, who came from the "ghettos" and the "slums". They did something with themselves. Either they or their parents worked hard. Got through school. Worked hard. Went to university. Whatever. One's very high up managerial in Microsoft. Another owns his own construction company, his wife the interior designer they make good money. Another went to university and became a lawyer. Another teaches elementary kids, has for ten years, and will likely be the principal the way she's going.

You could say they're an oddity. They're not.

The majority of African-Americans, what I've seen in a number of cities lived or visited in, have a poor me attitude. They don't necessarily try. They take the easy way out - who the hell wants to wipe tables for minimum wage when gangs say you can make big cash running drugs. Rather than finish through with school they get pregnant young, pop out a few kids, and sit on welfare.

I'm not stereotyping. I'm not white & I've lived "on the wrong side of the tracks" in San Francisco an example where the nighttime "music" was gunshots well into the night.
