Should you congratulate a 17 year old on their pregnancy?

My friends youngest sister just announced on Facebook that she was pregnant (she had already privately told her family and close friends). I've known her since she was a little kid, and I just cannot bring myself to be like "congrats on your pregnancy." Thankfully my friend is of the same mind and so I have someone I can express that to because we both think she's too young. Obviously, we get that you can't reverse this and she's keeping it, and all that, but I'd feel like a fake if I was just like thumbs up, great for you, awesome that before you finished high school, you're pregnant.

I'm not an a-hole, I'm not going to say anything to her face and she's not even my family so it's ultimately none of my business, but should you be congratulating a 17 year old on their pregnancy?

I find myself in dilemmas like this sometimes. It's like I don't wanna encourage the behavior but it's too late now so maybe I should say something nice... "Uhhh... Umm. I like your socks!"

Hmm, I honestly don't know. I guess at the end of the day, a baby is a baby and it she chooses to keep it, then it's her bundle or joy, which means congratulating her irregardless of your disapproval.

If she is happy about it then yes. If not, just don't say anything. What works for you may not work for all.

I'd personally only do that if she seemed like she knew what she was doing and would be a good mother.

It depends on the circumstances but in her case it sounds like she wanted a baby so yes congratulations are in order 😊
